Heartbeat Song - Underswap!Sans X Self Insert
Ohhh, stars. Oh stars. She was so nervous. He hadn’t even shown up yet - hadn’t even texted her that he headed to her place - and yet she was still pacing along the bedroom of her run down house, chewing her thumbnail. She’d already done her hair. The first and likely only time for a long while where the curls she did actually turned out well (thank goodness). She’d been too nervous to use a more obvious colored lipstick, so a glittering lip gloss would have to do, and she hoped her short black dress didn’t seem too formal.
Smoothing her dress out, she perked up as soon as she heard a notification from her phone and she rushed over, fumbling with the little pink phone in her hand before her eyes quickly scanned his text.
Sans Serif: OMW!
And she had exactly (and only) enough time to grab her purse and rush outside of her bedroom before she heard the knock on the door that startled her.
“YOUR BOYFRIEND’S HERE!” Oh she was going to kill that toddler.
Said five year old was leaning over the rundown couch in the living room, yelling loudly just as she had stepped onto the rug right in front of the door. She hadn’t even put her hand on the knob yet before she felt her shoulders hike up and her head sink down, gritting her teeth to hide her reddening face. “He’s…….. not my boyfriend.” Yet. He hasn’t asked her to be yet, so… I mean - and it was their first date, that would be a little much, wouldn’t it?
The little girl ran over, climbing off the couch and pulling at her oldest sister’s dress with a teasing grin. “Yes he is! You’re going on a date with him!” And she took it upon herself to throw open the door for the skeleton at the front.
In front of them stood Sans - eye sockets wide and face flushed a very noticeable blue from cheekbone to cheekbone. The same shade as the bandana around his neck. “Right, Sans!” That was a statement, not a question. They all knew it.
His eyelights flickered to the child, grin wide and giddy, blush firmly stuck in place and shade. “Uh- AHEM - I!-“
“Ahahah!” Lylia laughed aloud to diffuse the tension and hurriedly shooed the toddler behind her. “She’s so funny - kids say the darnedest things.” She turned around and nudged her sister back towards the couch, ignoring her protests with sharp gazes of her own before she saw her other siblings peak their heads out of their bedroom. The two teenagers had shit-eating grins, both of which she gave the same glare before hurrying herself and Sans away from the house and closing the door behind her.
She wasn’t even able to laugh off the situation before she was practically cornered by the skeleton - he was very much inside of her personal bubble, causing her to lean back to stare him in the eye. His smile had finally lowered a little bit, but his eyelights were bright and trained on her, cheekbones still blue. For a while they stared at each other, her eyes darting away occasionally, not able to hold his gaze for more than a few seconds before heat flushed her face again.
“Boyfriend, huh?” She didn’t even need to see his face to know how smug he looked, his gloved hand sliding into hers just to lean down and place his teeth against the back in a mock kiss, staring at her with lidded eye sockets.
She couldn’t even muster words to protest, her brain blue-screening as she stared at him with wide eyes, speechless. He only chuckled, averting his eyelights himself as he just led her forward towards the house’s driveway where he parked his blue Kawasaki Ninja motorbike. He let go of her hand only to slip his leather jacket back on, that smug look on his skull not leaving even as she began to glare at him and pout at just how long that expression stayed where it was.
He couldn’t help it, “Mweheheh!” He began to laugh, covering half his widening grin with his hand. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” He didn’t mean it, they both knew he didn’t. “Heh… I heard it from outside.” He held a spare helmet out for her. “But you know… monster dating schemes tend to go a lot faster than human ones.” The smugness on his skull was replaced by a certain softness, his eyelights going a bit fuzzy around the edges before he shoved his own helmet on his head. “I know it’s… a bit fast for you humans though.”
She took the helmet he offered, moving her hair around and hoping helmet hair wouldn’t affect her too much. She slid the visor down, hiding her face. “I dunno…” She muttered in return, climbing onto his bike from behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist gingerly. “I like to go fast sometimes.”
