i find it funny that actually aemond didn’t even give a shit about his eye cuz he won a big ass dragon. and yet alicent had to take it personally no matter what- her children are quite literally all she has to show for her suffering. her self-worth is so intertwined with her kids at this point that injuries to them are all injuries to her. the eye for an eye theme is fitting- ultimately, alicent wants justice for all the injuries she’s had to endure over the years. but there isn’t a framework in their society that will help her find it. only the spiral toward war and death.

i gotta say i don’t get the backlash against laenor’s ending in ep7?

i keep seeing people cracking jokes about how it’s so funny that hbo didn’t want to get cancelled for killing off their last surviving canon gay character and it’s like... would you have preferred him to be dead? you don’t think it’s better that he’s alive? i could give a fuck whether it was network pressure to appeal to twitter or if it was a empathetic writer decision. i care that laenor is alive. don’t you?

seems sort of weird to swing from “i can’t believe we killed joffrey the same episode he was introduced, that’s such a terrible way to handle your canon queer characters” to “i can’t believe they kept laenor alive just for woke points from the twitter libs”

overall i’d say it’s actually a very good thing to make book-canon dead gays into show-canon alive gays
