...yeah, I miss hotels too, they're weirdly comforting in a strange way since they all have a similar vibe. now I just wanna wander around in one :(((
Yes, exactly! Just... wander. Exist make my own fun, perhaps with a group of friends.
...
...hands up everyone who wants to do HotelCon. It's just a bunch of us checking into a hotel and living in it for a weekend. Cosplay, fan merch, and cool outfits you never get a chance to wear anywhere are encouraged, but not required.
Main event: breakfast buffet.
Main attractions: climbing the stairs and passively riding the elevators (like, just getting into one and not pressing any buttons, just not getting off again until you feel like it).
Meet 'n' greet: The receptionists - everyone who joins HotelCon will be guaranteed two personal interactions with a receptionist, one when they arrive, and one when they leave.
Special guests: The hotel staff, who will be wandering the hotel at their own discretion. Guests of HotelCon who see them are encouraged to thank them for their hard work, but otherwise politely maintain their distance.
Side event 1: Midnight Meander, in which guests of HotelCon congregate in small groups and wander the corridors after dark, conversing quietly and communally enjoying the nighttime liminal space.
Side event 2: Cosplay on the Town, in which HotelCon guests are encouraged to dress in their aforementioned cosplay/fan merch/cool outfits, and strike out beyond the bounds of the host hotel to get meals other than breakfast, and potentially look at any shops or locations of interest.
Guest limit: HotelCon is a small, locally-run con that can only handle maybe twenty or so guests maximum at any given time. However, unlike larger conventions, HotelCon welcomes, indeed, encourages cons of the same type, name, and even timing and location. HotelCon is a state of mind that involves only the appreciation of a nice stay at a hotel, and being very polite to the hotel's staff and other guests.
