elmax: have made out multiple times during sleepovers

henderhop: made out in college a couple times. besties now.

madwheeler: they hated it so fucking much. dustin said "rules are rules!" el echoed "rules are rules." max looked at lucas, who threw his hands up in defense. don't look at me! mike looked at will. will looked at max, then mike, then max. then mike. biting back laughter, "rules are rules." it lasted a second and max literally gagged after.

byclair: a solid kiss. mike physically pulled will back after it lasted more than two seconds. "nope." (bonus points if this is pre-dating)

wheelclair: the most straight boy kiss you've ever seen. max said they looked like limp fish.

madwise: very short, but weirdly a good kiss. max: "your talents are wasted on wheeler." dustin: "watch out lucas, will is gonna steal your girlfriend!" mike throws an arm around will possessively. will sends him a look. "you know i'm gay."

Hot take, but I think sometimes Byler's take too much of Mike's strength away from him. I love Will saving Mike just as much as the next person but Mike tried to fight B*lly multiple times in S3 to protect his friends. Did he win??? Not necessarily but he did leave a mark. Mike isn't the strongest character but he is smart and brave and a lot of people forget that

QUINN YOU'RE SO RIGHT. we saw less of it this season but like, mike is ready willing and (kind of) able to throw hands.

mike is more than his relationships to other ppl! on my knees praying for the return of MC mike wheeler in s5.

hot take (that i said in the tags of your ask to me but pretend like i didn't):

the russia plot could be cut in half screentime-wise and nothing would change imo. why did hopper need to escape only to immediately be recaptured? why did we need a 10 min hopper monologue of him reminiscing of being in the war? i was yawning while watching sorry,, lol

YEP! agreeing with your tags that they shouldve cut some of the nina plot too. i wish they wouldve given lucas' arc and mike's arc more time. give me more jancy shit sans steve. give robin an arc. fuck it, give eddie a better arc. i consistently found myself skipping through the russia & nina scenes to get back to cali/hawkins, and this was before i was On Byler Tumblr. not a good sign for the pacing of your show.

ummmm i honestly don't even like eddie as a character that much. he's a little too 1-dimensional for me :/

eddie on paper i could take or leave. joseph quinn + costume team brought some pizzazz i rly enjoyed, but like. script eddie? his arc is so bland. i fw the whole "im done running thing" in theory but the execution was so sloppy. the duffers are generally p good at show not tell but we never see eddie being a coward. the few times he runs, its reasonable as hell. and his 'heroic sacrifice' was SO UNNECESSARY. GIVE HIM SOME STAKES PLEASE.

hot take of the day is that sometimes bylers try to excuse mike's every action by placing the blame on others when really sometimes it's just straight up mikes fault bc he's a flawed character and flawed characters make mistakes and do things wrong

yes yes yes. he's 15, he's allowed to kind of a dick. he fucks up and feels bad and apologizes. he's allowed to make mistakes.

blameless characters are not interesting characters. same goes for will.

when they come out of the van in the wheelers driveway, they come out in this order: mike, will, el. same thing at the cabin.

hot take people headcannoning dustin, the only physically disabled character on the show that also isn't "conventionally attractive", as aro or ace feels a bit off to me if you understand what I mean

no bc ive been thinking the exact same thing 👁👁 like he canonically has a girlfriend. but regardless of that, there is something...hm abt it yk. im not at all saying* if you think dustin is ace/aro you are ableist but uh lets investigate why we're headcanoning dustin and not other characters, hm? why does it "just feel right?"

EDIT: this isn’t about ace/aro people headcanoning a character they love and/or identify with as ace/aro. this is about non-ace/aro people who can’t fathom disabled/“non conventionally attractive” people as desirable.

henderhop is one of those things i love in concept! i dont think it has any basis in canon, but i love the idea of el & dustin ending up in the same place in their college years and becoming best friends. el and dustin smoking a joint for the first time in dustin's dorm and collapsing into a fit of giggles. they cuddle sometimes. maybe they make out at a party once or twice. i dont think that they last, but they remain one of the most important people in each others' lives forever.
