right before i snapped this, all the babies were on top of fiver’s head, but this is still cute
glamour shots of fiver. she dug a big hole right before i went out so her nose is dirty but what can i do
did someone say ‘new bunnies’? ‘cause i got some ;p
went to the feed store to get chicken scratch and saw these guys in the chick room. apparently they were running feral in the next town up the mountain and were brought to the store here to rehome. the employees were overjoyed that i wanted to buy them because apparently they didn’t like taking care of rabbits lol! i feel like i got lucky because they’re also both does!
fiver is the hotot - she’s a chocolate sport (little spots on her butt,) with partial heterochromia and i don’t even CARE that she’s of unknown purity, age, etc, because i’m just over the moon to finally have a hotot that isn’t a dwarf. fingers crossed she throws me some of those gorgeous cloudy sports!
her black companion is hazel, and she seems of similar build and age to fiver but i doubt they’re related in any way. they both seem quite young, and are on the thin side. i suspect they’d be around 3 or 4lbs if they hadn’t been wild. i’m hoping they get a tad larger just because i prefer big buns, but either way i’m not that picky in my pelt mutts :) hazel may not be anything special, but we’ll see what she’s got genetics-wise before deciding her fate.
Levi, a nine-month-old Hotot rabbit 🐇 (at Petco)
This is Twiggy (named for the fact that she was massively underweight when she arrived at the shelter and for her “eyeliner,” trademark for Hotot rabbits, resembling that of the model’s). She’s going to be in foster care for two months due to an injured leg, but when she’s available, I’m sure she’ll get snatched up right away because of how cute she is. You can’t really tell from this picture, but she’s pretty tiny as well.
