((Hi! I'm new to the Star Wars tumblr RP scene, any suggestions or help you could give would be great. I'd love to RP with you, never done this type of character before so I'm really excited. Thanks!))
OOC: First off, hello! Welcome to the crew.
I'll start off with two guides (one I wrote, another I reblogged): the first is to enable replies on your blog. The second (and most important, for me) is trimming your posts.
I want to start with a tip on character development:
Don't make your character perfect. This is something that I've seen way too much of lately. It's not fun to interact with a Mary Sue/Gary Stu who is supposedly more powerful than everybody and can overcome any and all situations. Give your character weaknesses, give your character depth. Be believable. Not to be rude to some, but I just can't follow if I can't believe the character.
Mandalorians often have weaknesses (in physical or emotional aspects). That can definitely be a worthy addition to your character.
Have your character respect the chain of command. I.e., all Mandalorians should know who the Mand'alor is (based on your character's time frame)
Now then, here are some RP tips.
When you got to follow a new person, look to see if they have an "About The Character" page. If they do, read it. There are things in there that the mun specifically put to help everybody out. This may include headcanons, notes on magic anons, certain things that should be observed, relationships, so on and so forth
In addition, write an about page for your character. This will help potentially RP partners. Generally needed are Name, Age, primary location, timeframe, affiliation, occupation and a general summary of their life.
Don't godmod. I think that says enough.
Try and do a starter post (i.e. hotshotneomando started following you) and tag the character appropriately. Many people track their usernames as tags to help organize new posts. An extension of this, look for what tag they track (if they don't say anything, then it's usually just their username)
Trim your posts. (This was mentioned above)
Reblog as text! This goes hand-in-hand with trimming posts. As long as you're on a desktop (or tablet), it is easy to reblog as text. If you are on your phone, then it's more difficult. In that situation, it's better to let the other person know that they should trim it if they can.
Ask questions. Whether it's about a character or RPing in general, many, many people are willing to help you out.
I'm glad to have you onboard and I hope this helps!
