I find it very intriguing that most of the clones saw Kamimo as a home. (We have whole episodes of that sentiment!) But then we get to Clone Force 99, and yes, it is definitely a home in some way, but they feel shunned and unwelcome. And when they leave with Omega they promise she doesn’t have to go back either. They understand her. They understand it was a home, but that they all deserved a different one, a better one, and that’s what they have in each other. And yet, the destruction of Kamimo is poignant, and I find myself listening to the song “Collapse” over and over again. This is what they knew, what they were comfortable with including all the uncomfortable parts that they still tried to fit into this concept of home, a base, somewhere they won’t have to worry about getting shot at. And it’s sad. It’s sad it’s empty. It’s sad a whole race is being killed by the Empire. It’s sad they no longer have what they used to at their backs. It’s the end of an era, an end to clone troopers, an end to what rights they had as lifeforms. I think everything with Kamino was handled so well, and it is very deep, and complex.
