Fic Rec: Bred in Captivity by Jadzialove.
Story: Bred in Captivity.
Author: Jadzialove.
Word Count: 14k+
Status: Complete. One-shot.
Summary: Being sentenced to serve his time in Potter's custody is not the ultimate price Severus expected to pay for his crimes. It's not Harry's idea of post-war bliss either. But in making the best of a bad situation, they just might find something neither could have anticipated: understanding.
Warnings: None.
Themes: Healing. Understanding.
Genre: Romance.
Narrative: It’s a tad convoluted. I personally liked it, even if at times I had to read it over. It’s story you do have to pay attention to. Mostly because there are some time jumps that happen quickly, but I would like to think it’s deliberate. The author does not like overt detail, and it shows. It’s not austere but it’s fast-paced.
Brief Character Breakdown: There are some genuinely odd things happening here that I don’t know how to describe without Severus Snape sounding OOC. But when they are placed within the context of the story.... I don’t know I would like to think that a Severus Snape that survived the war can be anything and can act in a very varied number of ways. So long as the story develops organically and there is logic and an inherent humanity following their actions, I’m game for anything. Harry is pretty much standard Harry, so a lovely, nice but stubborn, adorable, boyish bon-bon. You can see I don’t steer away much from that.
Shout out for the Golden Trio. I love when authors give justice to Ron in particular. That’s how I know it’s a quality story.
My Opinion: This goes really quickly I wish I could have more things to read about it. But it’s nice once in a while; to read something brief but great. It’s one of the few shorter stories I’ve recommended here.

Some notes.
"It is my belief that the World (or, if you will, the House, since the two are for all practical purposes identical) wishes an Inhabitant for Itself to be witness to its Beauty and the recipient of its Mercies."

Rejected first paragraph of house!fic.
They're here. They're here and it doesn't matter if there's a disagreement about why they're here or whether they should be here at all. Things—essentials—are already moved and other things—non-essentials—are on the way. The deed is sorted, the movers paid, utilities forwarded, and in the next week or so, all their documents and accounting will be updated for the address change. Logistics are handled with a deftness of efficiency that, to anyone paying attention from the outside, would reek of either experience or extreme neuroticism. It isn't the former and if it is the latter, it's a neuroticism born of frustration or passive aggressive compliance to the will of God.
