Birdz at my feeder!
I have permission to share these amazing photos of a piebald house finch that frequents an acquaintance's property
I'm so jealous

this atypically colored house finch exhibits light plumage due to a genetic mutation known as leucism, where there is a reduced amount of melanin. as melanin is linked to strength of feathers, birds with leucism or albinism may suffer from weak or brittle feathers, but rarely have significant health defects linked to the condition. however, their lifespans are often shorter due to increased visibility to predators.
