I definitely have to draw more of his Phoenix King attire in the future, it's not depicted enough + rendering it was really enjoyable

so, if Ozai proclaimed himself the Phoenix King, it means that at least the concept of phoenixes exists in ATLA universe (+ we see phoenixes on his banners and the platform during this scene).

we don't get to witness any actual phoenix in the show, though. maybe they're almost extinct, like dragons, and therefore there are very few places on Earth where they can be found, or maybe they are considered mythical beings even within the framework of the cartoon's peculiar fauna. anyway, a lot of people draw Zuko and Azula with dragons, so why not ✨️
