My husband (that's him being a doof in the second picture) and I have been looking and waiting for almost a year for a statue that we felt would best represent our house wight, and we finally found one!

The statue we fell in love with is a beautiful clay relief of a woman holding a small, polished piece of moss agate, also known as the Warrior's Stone.

Honoring house wights is still very popular even in modern times. This is a very important part of our practice, and we leave offerings of water, alcohol (mead, beer, or whiskey), bread, and sometimes coins. A good relationship with a house wight will keep balance within the home, for those who dwell well with spirits prosper. Read more about these magical spirits here.

...when you pull your sheet out of the washer and find there is a frecking knot on it.

So a few nights ago, a shamanic healer friend of mine (Monika Lonely Coyote) came over to do some healing and soul retrieval on my husband’s parents, in the wake of the passing of my husband’s grandmother.  In the middle of the ritual, Monika stopped suddenly and said that a negative spirit, masquerading as a helping owl spirit, had tried to come and mess with the healing but before she could even react a net came out of nowhere and caught the bad spirit and yanked it out of the house.  She said it seemed obvious that my house wight and I have kept pretty good wards around our house, and complimented us on the effectiveness of the shielding.

Afterwards my house wight (who is a fab little Brownie named Trevor) and I went around the house and re-checked and re-upped everything to make sure the wards were undamaged and still holding strong.  He stood on my shoulder as we worked together, and I feel really confident that everything is still in its proper place.

But as for the net and helping out so that everyone was safe?  All I can say is:

FUCK YEAH, HAIL TREVOR!
