Fashion of the Great Houses of Westeros: House Arryn of the Eyrie
@asoiafsnet house arryn appreciation week » arryn queens
Queen Teora of House Hunter became the queen consort of Roland I Arryn, King of Mountain and Vale. According to legend, Teora reminded her future husband of how his grandfather, Artys I Arryn, the first King of Mountain and Vale, had defeated Robar II Royce by attacking from the high ground in the Battle of the Seven Stars. Thanks to Teora’s words, King Roland I Arryn decreed that the Eyrie should be built on the Giant’s Lance high above the Gates of the Moon.
Queen Arwen of House Upcliff, was married to Alester II Arryn, King of Mountain and Vale. Her marriage to the Arryn king brought the Witch Isle, seat of House Upcliff, an isle in the waters off the eastern and northern coasts of the Vale, into the realm.
Queen Sharra of House Arryn, known as the Flower of the Mountain and regarded as one of the most beautiful women of Westeros, was Queen Regent of the Kingdom of Mountain and Vale, ruling in the name of her son, the boy-king Ronnel Arryn, during the invasion of Westeros by Aegon I Targaryen. As other regions of Westeros fell to Aegon, Sharra amassed the Vale army at the Bloody Gate. However, Aegon sent Visenya to the Eyrie riding her dragon Vhagar. When Sharra returned to the Eyrie she found her son sitting on Visenya’s lap and asking if he could ride the dragon with Visenya. Sharra bent the knee afterwards. The Arryns were declared Wardens of the East and Defenders of the Vale.
Queen Aemma of House Arryn was the queen consort and first wife of King Viserys I Targaryen, and a granddaughter of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and his sister-wife, Queen Alysanne Targaryen. Aemma became pregnant multiple times in the early years of her marriage but suffered multiple miscarriages. In 97 AC, Aemma gave birth to a healthy daughter, Princess Rhaenyra. Aemma and Viserys both adored their only living child. In early 105 AC, Aemma became pregnant once more and late in the year, she gave birth to a son, Prince Baelon Targaryen. Aemma died during the birth, and her son died a day later.
HOUSE OF LADIES DAY 6 - HOUSE ARRYN
In addition to my participation with my other blog, I made 4 avatars inspired by the very same aesthetic/header I posted, featuring Yuliya Aug as Lysa Arryn. I will not explain again why I choose Lysa but I leave you with another quote about her :
“Lysa could not see the evil in men, only the good”
Houses of Westeros → Arryn, whose words are "As High as Honor."
