House-fits.

It’s another one of those days that I don’t really want to leave the house. Super emo and delicate Cancer Full Moon energy has taken over and for the past week, I just want to bake, send long sappy emails, SKYPE with family, watch romantic dramas, read astrological reports, listen to esoteric music and curl up by a fire. 

As I stare outside of my window at the sunlight reflecting off of the building across the street, I try to coax myself to get out before it gets dark in the next couple of hours. I keep stalling, the sun goes down, and I decide to pop a vitamin D, instead. As I move stealthily between my bedroom to the kitchen, my room mate catches a glimpse of me and says,

“You have such cute house-fits.” 

I never really thought of this term before, but I liked ‘house-fit’, the opposite of an ‘outfit.’ This fits my styling philosophy perfectly. Instead of dressing to impress others, house-fits are about dressing to reflect on oneself. 

I looked down at my aged skull eating flowers t-shirt, then snake print shorts. It reflected my mood: sweet, melancholic, immortal. 

What does your house-fit say about you?

Assignment: Scan your drawers and closets for patterns, materials, and colors that you would not normally wear outside. Who cares what others think, entertain yourself. You would be surprised that some of the things you put together work quite well, and you may even gain a compliment without even trying*
