My Philodendron Imperial Red keeps growing! These are the things that make me smile & cheer me up. Yes, I'm struggling with some of my babies and I'm focusing my energy on them, but damn... we have to appreciate and value the good things happening around us every single day! 💚 💪🏽

Philodendron Care:

🔆 Medium indirect light

💦 Let them dry well between watering sessions. Remember to follow the finger test.

🥵 Regular Humidity

🫘 I haven't fertilizer this one in the year I've grown her. I'll update my care tips when I do.

Winterizing houseplants P3! Sunlight changes 🌞🌤️🌥️🌦️

***𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀!***

In winter the intensity of the sunlight usually decreases. Plants automatically start adapting to those changes, resulting in less nutrients intake and stop growth. They take a break! This can also provoke a couple of leaves yellowing and dropping.

A common mistake is to freak out and add a lot of fertilizer and water it more, stressing the plant and probably causing other issues.

Sit back, use the finger test to determine when a plant needs water, do not fertilize it, just let them rest.

This is Kenji, a Chihuahua- Dachshund mix. He loves being close to my plants and under the sun. He also loves to cuddle!

Winterizing Houseplants P2! Frost Days 🥶❄️

*𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻d reblog 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀!*

*𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻> Frost days happen when temperatures drop below 36°F (2°C). Those days we have to be aware of any sentitive plant in a window sill or very close to a window (like my alocasias in my post 2 days ago ory plants on this window sill on the video)

If you live in a place that has frost days continuously for several days/weeks, you might want to move those plants farther away from the windows, just during those times. 🥶

You can check on the weather app if there is any forecasted frost day I'm the near future. 🤳

Caladium Marie Moir Polka Dot 💗

I'm not very familiar with the different types of caladiums that exist, but somehow I know it is a caladium right when I see it.

I also lost the label, so this was the most accurate I got. If you know the exact name, please comment here and I'll update it and give you credit for it!

Caladiums are like magical, almost unreal. The texture is paper-like and the colors are like watercolor.

Sansevieria Masoniana (Whale Fin Snake Plant)

What would you name her? 🤔

I found her about 1.5y ago in a local nursery. I screamed & got her immediately! The leaf on the left was super small and has grown taller than the older one.

Some on Instagram asked for the measurements and I was so excited to take them! The younger one is H37 inches x 6W and to the older one is H32 inches x 5W.

Make sure to use a moisture meter or deep finger test to check the soil water levels. It's easy (at least for me) to go on extremes with sansevierias.

This is definitely a thing for outdoor gardens, mostly in areas with harsh cold winters. However, how does it affect houseplants (indoor potted plants)? Follow my upcoming few posts where I'll share my personal findings.
