Update on the 🚨Emergency Fund🚨 I was raising for my aide, last month...
She didn't tell me until last night, but she was unable to raise enough money, even with help from her family, to avoid eviction.
And now, she has to be out of her apartment by this Friday (13 February, 2026). And she only has enough money for a few nights in a hotel.
She's responsible for three teenage daughters, and an infant granddaughter.
She starts a new job, today (after searching for work for 4 months), but she won't get paid for another two weeks.
So I'm reopening my crowdfunding campaign to help pay for a few more nights in the hotel, until she can find more permanent housing.
In the meantime, we found out why no one would hire her. When she quit the home health agency I'd signed up for, her former boss put into her record accusations of Elder Abuse. Her primary job at the agency was Scheduling, and I was the only client she worked with regularly. She'd only gone into two other client's homes once, to fill in. And neither of them were elderly, or had dementia. So he just made up that allegation out of spite.
(And yes, I know I only have her word for that, but I've also seen her every day since July, and I can't imagine anyone with a less abusive or even grumpy personality; And I also have records that show this company was overcharging me for services not even rendered)
