Yes, unfortunately. I’ve just checked and apparently there are 130+ different sign languages that developed just like regular languages within different countries so groups of deaf people could talk to each other. I learned a bit of british sign language a few years ago and I remember being told that ASL was more different from BSL than spoken British English is from spoken American English! I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but, no, sign language users can’t use their version of SL universally.
