MORS U DIRTY CHEATER
Aang waking up Sokka forcibly by pretending there was a rattle snake in his sleeping bag. And Katara laughs. Sokka put up with all of this and more in their travels and still loved the hell out of those two. Who's the real heroic character around here, eh???
Please tell us about Harathi when Agni was little! And when he got redemption too? Honestly you gave me so many feels with her o(〒﹏〒)o
Of course!!! :D
First of all, let’s get one thing straight: Harathi firmly believes that Agni is the only valuable thing she has ever contributed to the world. Because she grew up poor and her family didn’t have very much to offer as a dowry to her husband -- who by contrast was very elevated in status -- she always felt like she wasn’t worth much as a person. (The fact that many of her own relatives as well as her husband’s relatives vehemently opposed the marriage because of the couple’s difference in castes didn’t help.) It was never really “having children is what gives my life value”, though. Rather, it was “having this child is what gives my life value”.
When he was young, she was the one who cared for him most of the time and tried to keep him sheltered from his father’s behavior. Harathi was the one who instilled in him his faith; given that it was a large part of her own life, it was something she could bond with him over. Agni was actually a bit of a handful as a child, always energetic and having a hard time sitting still. Meditation was the one thing Harathi tried to focus on with him, hoping it would teach him discipline and patience.
Despite her love for her husband, Harathi gradually started sleeping in the same bed with him less and less. By the time Agni was about three? She slept in her own bed almost all the time. But Agni was always allowed to sleep with her, and they usually happily curled up together at bedtime.
She’s also where Agni gets his passion for cooking! Of course, her own passion involved a lot of experimenting in the kitchen as opposed to refining dishes, but she very much enjoyed creating things with whatever she had to work with. Give her a few ingredients that didn’t seem like they went together, and she’d make a surprisingly nice dinner out of them.
As for Agni’s redemption with Soma... unfortunately, Harathi had long since passed by that time. Her spirit was disappointed to see her son following the same path that her husband had gone down, but she never lost faith in him. You’ve never felt such an emanation of pride as the one that vibrated from her soul when she saw how determined Agni was to turn his life around.
And she’s still there. She still watches over not only him, but his friends as well. When Agni’s life is cut short, she’ll be there to welcome him home. She’s waiting to hold her baby boy in her arms again.
Okay, so this is probably a tad weird (more than a tad?). But, uh, given that songxuexiao has eaten my brain, and that I've really enjoyed your reviews of niche media, (and in a probably parasocial way, I'm excited to see you enjoying this ship), I was wondering if you've checked out any of the fic? Because I think there's some weird, niche queer stuff there that you'd really appreciate
Uhhhhhh well I poked my head into “Heaven Has a Road but No One Walks It” because I’d seen a piece of art for it at one point and I basically think I ruined myself for other fic right out of the gate because hmm yes I do think this ship would take approximately 250K worth of slowburn to even begin functioning also now the feelings are causing me extensive physical anguish and I have PLAYED MYSELF.
