Did you make breakfast?" Liam sounds genuinely baffled, paused half a step away from the counter, eyes staggered between Theo and the most basic toast known to man. Theo spreads his hands as answer, encompassing the spread of plated peanut butter toast and a half made coffee. Liam grins, in that way Theo has only ever seen on hungry teenage boys and hungry dogs, both about to get fed. He tries not to smile at the comparison, maybe doesn't succeed all the way; Liam doesn't seem to notice, "Sweet."

He forgoes the stools tucked under the edge of the counter in favour of just hopping up to sit on it, again, twisting to face Theo and immediately snagging a piece of toast. Theo thinks about asking what Mason wanted, what Liam told him, hates himself a little bit for not just listening to them, just outside, hates the not knowing even for something as trivial as this. He's pulling milk from the fridge when the beta speaks of his own accord, mouth still half full.

"Mason saw your truck outside." Is all he offers, and Theo supposes that makes sense. It's not hard to recognise - bullet holes and bloodstains on his one true possession, how poetic - and maybe if he'd been more aware last night he would have parked it better, not left an obvious signal right in Liam's driveway, because this time it was Mason, but it could just as easily have been hunters, and they would definitely have recognised their own handiwork, a glowing neon sign to say 'Others in the building'. His grip tightens a little around the feeble cardboard carton, teeth grit, at the foolish mistake, an error he should have been more aware of, has to remember he's not so inconspicuous now, not with the truck as an identifier of everywhere he goes, still carrying the scars of everywhere he's been.
