a heart for a kingdom ⋮ read on ao3
summary : Commercial alliances between Lindon and Mirkwood had always been common; and so was the dignified contempt both of their heir held towards each other. You thought of Mirkwood’s prince with a distinguished loathing regarding his arrogance and conceited personality, and he thought no different of you. It had never been a problem. But that was before there was mentions of reinforcing the bond between the two kingdoms with a strategic union. And not just any union: an heir wedding.

Canons screaming their deadly song, fire dislocating the limbs of your ship from its sacred body. The beak, the mast, until it engulf the waist whole. Your ship scattering across the sea.
A sonata of chaos rang through your ears as you were flown off The Moonlight. That monster of a foreign pirate ship had turned agains’t you, madly wrecking your ship to shreds and leaving you and your crew defenseless against their wrath. A peace treaty, they said.
It didn’t take long for your beloved ship to be doomed to not see another sunrise.
You did not know the last words that slipped passed your lips. In between the screams, commands and howling of anything your team could do to grasp at the strings of your dying beauty.
Then you felt it before the fall. Something so heavy it felt weightless against the side of your temple. You felt the water, the blue of the waves reaching to the sky before the world went dark, the sea engulfing you whole in its hungry reach.
Your heart about to stop as water bedded every corner of your body, a trail of blood following you down—but before your lifeless self could even reach the sand that rested in the depths of the cold sea, the Flying Dutchman took hold of all the bodies sinking around the ship, rising as it did.
~
Captain William Turner settled himself on deck as he scanned the sea, watching the pieces of the boat that was viciously ripped to shreds, float around his own ship. Fear settled in his stomach as he began to regonise the parts, the gilded wood, the stained windows that sea licked to shreds. His mind, bringing them together like a jigsaw puzzle.
His chest began to ache. His eyes wide, shining as it searched for something, anything that could give him the answer he was searching for.
Then his world stopped.
a thousand miles away, in a place only you knew, if you went close enough to the chest lulled by the ocean breeze, you would hear the clear missed beat of his heart.
The neatly curved and gilded plank of wood with golden writing floated neatly and proudly atop the water.
"It’s The Moonlight,” Will clenched the railing so tight his already pale knuckles became whiter. He turned around in a hurry, scanning the mass of bodies that laid between life and death, sprawled across the deck of his ship like freshly caught fish.
If Will’s heart had still been in his chest, he would have felt it beat into his ears and would have almost feel it break—
The arhythmic rythme of his heart echoed across the iron walls of the tripled locked chest.
he saw your sword.
He had made it, he knew it was yours, and the more he looked around the more he began to regonise your crew, and the ache in his heart lit in his body like fire across rum.
Under the mass of wet cadavres, a delicate lifeless hand laid there, sticking out of the pile.
He regonise the ring that layed on your finger, and with quick, sharp movement he pushed anyone that stood on his way to you, only to reveal your cold traits.
"No. No, no, no," he kneeled by your side, "Y/n." He cried, placing his thumb across your cheek.
He rested his forehead against your cold one, slipping a hand over your heart. His tears uncontrollable as he tried to sense a beat, anything that could pull you back to life.
But he could even feel it, your soul was on the rim of travelling to his locker, just like all the people laying around him.
He thought he cried, screamed, he couldn’t know through the ringing in his ear as he closed his eyes and squeezed you as tight as he possibly could against him.
At this very minute he didn’t care. He knew he was being selfish. He knew that maybe this is not what you wanted, but he wasn’t thinking clear. How could he?
Still squeezing your body with his entire strength, wishing you could make one, he took your soul back from the grip of his locker, making you his prisoner.
"Who is this?" A pirate, once a nameless face amongst the crew of Davy Jones, but Will made it his mission to know the names of everyone under his charge, spoke up.
Bootstraps Bill was standing next to the man, a frown creasing between his own brow. He might have missed a lot of things in his son’s life: first words, first steps, the tantrums he’d throw as a child, his first sword fights. Maybe that’s why he decided giving his life to the Flying Dutchman was better than a life on ground, to finally have time with his kid.
But maybe if he had been more present before he would have already seen him cry, and it wouldn’t have taken him by such surprise.
Seeing his son, the strong and fair Captain he had become. The one who had defeated Davy Jones and so many other enemies of the sea, kneeling down before the love of his life’s lifeless body, incontrolable sobs slipping past his lips.
But the man besides Bill had asked a question no one else knew the answer too, and people were starting to whisper about how such a beautiful soul was connected to their Captain.
So he spoke, speaking what he knew to be true; "Captain’s wife."
"Oh. Didn’t know she was a pirate," he spoke with amazement lacing his tone. "She’s real pretty,"
The man did not have time to answer, because they watched in amazement as the cursed ruler of the sea, worked his magic.
You coughed water out, gallons coming out of your lungs, breathing becoming impossible but not lacking. The fog in your eyes dissipated, and just like the last thing your eyes admired as they closed for what was suppose to be the last time, the sky was there, in all its glory the sky created a beautiful halo, perfectly framing him.
His eyes, shinning in their darkness and looking at you like a sailor would look at the world’s greatest treasure.
"Will?" Your body felt like fire under his touch. The feeling like electricity running up and down. Your hand reached for his cheek, brushing the skin that you hadn’t felt in too long.
"What happened?" You asked, breathless as you wiped a tear away with your thumb, gently tucking a strand of his wet hair out the way.
You watched as Will closed his eyes at the contact, he could melt right there and finish his days happy—gods he missed you so much.
"You died-" he sniffed and your face twisted.
"I’m dead?" You questioned the confused look on your face making him slightly laugh. "I’m actually dead?"
"Yes," Will was about to tear up again as he closed you into a hug, kissing your forehead as he did.
"Well I do not feel dead," you frowned. "Is this how you feel?" looking back up to meet his eyes, watching as he gave you a tearful nod. "death is overthought then,” you reassured. "I mean I get to be with my husband, don’t I?" Your voice was soft, and your fingertips softer as you traced his every trait. "I mean—I get to stay with you right? Even though I will be your prisoner? Just do not send me away-"
"Who said I was sending you away, love?" He questioned, and grin filled your lips as you were now inches close to him.
"No one, Captain Turner." You smirked before getting lost in his eyes for the third time. Will did not hesitate to close the gap between your two bodies, pressing his lips yours in a sealing kiss, pulling away just enough to breathe against your lips;
"Welcome aboard Mrs. Turner."

Overprotective Will Turner/Reader
🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
The docks were unusually calm that evening, the sun lowering itself into the sea in a wash of amber and rose. Sailors hurried about their work, ropes slapped against wood, and gulls circled overhead, but Will Turner barely noticed any of it.
He was too busy watching you.
You’d only stepped a few paces away to admire the sunset from the end of the pier, but Will tracked you like he expected the ocean to reach up and steal you away the moment he blinked.
“Will,” you called over your shoulder, amused, “I’m not going to fall in.”
He frowned, tightening the grip on the cloth he’d been using to polish a blade. “The boards are damp. One wrong step and-”
“…and you’d dive in after me,” you said, smiling as you returned to him.
“That’s not the point.” He set the half polished metal aside and stepped forward, brushing off a bit of sawdust from your sleeve. “The point is that I’d rather you didn’t risk falling at all.”
You looked up at him. “You really do worry?”
His jaw tightened. “Of course I do.”
Then softer, “I always do.”
You touched his chest lightly. “Will…”
His voice was earnest, almost pleading, his brown eyes warm but filled with that familiar anxious tenderness. “I don’t ever want to see you in danger. Not even the smallest bit.”
You rose onto your toes and kissed the corner of his mouth, something that made him instantly, terribly flustered.
When you pulled back, he followed instinctively, as if afraid that an inch of distance was too much.
“Come here,” he murmured, sliding a hand around your waist. His thumb stroked your hip, gentle and calming, as though reassuring himself you were truly there. “Stay close to me.”
“You’re adorable when you’re protective, you know,” you teased.
He flushed a deep red. “I’m not I just” He exhaled. “I don’t want to lose you. Not to the sea, not to misfortune…” His fingers curled lightly against your shirt, fingers wrapped around the necklace underneath that Elizabeth Swann had given you, grounding himself. “Not to anything.”
Your heart softened. You leaned into his chest, letting his warmth wrap around you.
“I’m not going anywhere,” you whispered.
Will closed his eyes and rested his forehead against your hair, holding you like the world might try to take you if he loosened his arms even slightly.
“Good,” he murmured. “Because I’ll be right here. Always.”
You squeezed him back.
And for the rest of the evening, Will kept one arm around you, guiding you, protecting you, refusing to let the wind or waves get even a moment of you without him.

Will Turner was a man of discipline. Of training and resistance and strength.
Usually.
When it came to you, though? Oh, how weak he was.
He could face Davey Jones and his crew without batting an eye, but as soon as he was in your presence he was helpless to your spell. Like you were a siren, dragging him to his demise with your voice alone.
As soon as the two of you had privacy, he was kneeling before the altar that was your thighs, ready to accept anything you'd be willing to give him.
Like tonight.
The two of you were in a real bed for once, not a hammock or a cot, but a bed. He'd been trying not to seem needy, but it'd been so long since he'd last had you.
He stood at the foot of the bed, looking down at your stretched out body, humming happily at the soft sheets and plush mattress. He always knew that a part of you missed some of the luxuries of noble life.
He kneeled before the bed, pressing a kiss to your ankle as he murmured your name gently. You sat up then, giving him a soft smile as he kissed further up your leg.
With his lips still pressed against the skin of your knee, his eyes flickered up to yours. "Please let me."
You relented easily, giving a small nod. William wasted no time undressing you from your clean white shift. Once you were bared to him, he ran his hands over the skin of your thighs and up the rest of you until he was cupping your breasts.
His touch was gentle as he fondled you, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to your neck. He trailed his lips down your skin, kissing your collarbone and the fat of your breasts. He continued his descent, pausing to suck one of your nipples into your mouth.
Only once you were a squirming mess under him did he let up, pulling away with a pop.
"William," you whined softly, tangling your hand in his hair and tugging gently.
With his lips pressed against your navel, he smiled cockily. His hand found the apex of your thighs, feeling the slick that coated you there.
He groaned at the feel of you on his fingertips, sliding two or his digits through your folds. "You're so wet for me already."
You let out another whine of his name as he kissed your mound, then the inside of your thigh, avoiding where he knew you wanted him. Just because he liked to tease.
But really, he couldn't hold back any longer.
He ran his tongue through your folds, savoring the sweet taste of you that assaulted his senses. Your hand found his hair, tugging with enough force to have him groaning against you.
As he sucked hard on your clit, he gripped your thigh and brought it over his shoulder.
Your noises increased, mewls and moans of his name that spilled out easily. You curled your leg, your heel digging into his shoulder blades as he pressed further against you. You tasted so good he felt near crazy, like he had just finished a whole barrel of rum himself.
You were better than any rum. Worlds better.
Your juices leaked out of you easily, dropping down before it was caught by his tongue laving over you again.
He was relentless, sucking and slurping while giving you more attention than you could need. It was overwhelming, the sheer ferocity with which he consumed you. In under ten minutes, he’d completely pulled you apart with his tongue alone.
He felt you twitch and flutter and knee without a doubt that you’d be unraveling soon.
He doubled his efforts, squeezing your thigh as you cried out his name, smothering him between both of your thighs.
The moment passed slowly, with you coming down from your high as he pulled away and stroked your skin gently. He smiled up at you, light and pleased.
He hummed and pressed a soft kiss to the inside of your thigh before moving back up your body. He collapsed against you, burying his face into the crook of his neck. He was sure you could feel him—hard and pressed against you—but he didn’t want you to think about that.
He had jut wanted to take care of you, to make you feel good. Like always.

The river had always been your home. The murky waters greeted you kindly, and you’d never met another of your kind. You strayed from the banks, afraid of those who had tried to catch you when you were a toungling, muttering things about your tail. You aided boats through the channel, helping the vessels avoid debris, moving the animals out of the way, and keeping them from harm.
The blacksmith’s shop faced the water, and you’d watched a young man grow through the years, and watched him practice his sword work at night after long days working. Your head peeked just above the water, moonlight echoing off the surface.
One particular night, after you’d heard of rumours of a pirate in Port Royal, the man was out practising again, clearly more angry than usual, louder grunts of frustration slipping between his lips. You watch in horror as his foot catches on his other, tumbling backwards into your water with a yelp. You linger for a long moment, frozen with shock, before quickly swimming over and gently lifting him from the water and aiding him to the shoreline. As he gasps for breath, he looks over at you, eyes widening at the sigh of your tail. The word mermaid leaves his lips, making your head tilt.
“Mermaid?” You echo gently.
“You speak…” He whispers, reaching out to you, making you flinch backwards. “I won’t hurt you… You saved me.” You watch him for a long moment before turning and diving back into the depths of the water, leaving the man with a distant glimmer of your tail under the surface.

“I’m telling you! There was a mermaid!” Elizabeth gives Will an odd look.
“So you’ve seen pirates and a mermaid this week… are you sure you haven’t gone mad?” The woman asks, making Will’s gaze across the river narrow.
“She helped me out of the water! But she was clearly scared.”
“Even if there was a mermaid… why is she in a river?” Will’s mouth opens before he pauses, considering the thought.
“I… don’t know.”
“I think you’ve gone mad. Too much rum last night?” She elbows his side, making him roll his eyes.
“She was there… I know she was…”
𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟
The weeks and months pass slowly as you continue to watch Will train each night, making sure he doesn’t see you as he scans the surface for a glance at your tail. The time slows when Will disappears for a few weeks, and you overhear talks of a curse facing his return.
The training slows, only a few choice nights of watching him, now often joined by a young woman in fancy dresses. A large ship pulls into the bay, and another man joins him with a red bandana.
“You sound mad, mate.” Jack snorts, tying a rope on the ship.
“She can probably help us through the channel!”
“This is probably one of the few times I’ll agree with Jack,” Elizabeth mutters, making Jack snort.
“I think we should at least try!”
“If you’re fibbing and get stuck in that channel, we’re utterly screwed, William.”
“I promise she’s there.” Jack rubs his eyes with a long sigh as Elizabeth shakes he head and crosses her arms over her chest.
“If you’re wrong, you're paying for my ship,” Jack grunts, making Will smile triumphantly.
“Gibbs! Man, the wheel and take us through the channel!” Will calls out, making the older man raise a brow and glance at Jack, who reluctantly nods. Will move the edge of the deck as the ship follows the wave and the canal stretches out in front of him. He watches the water carefully, desperately to catch a glimpse of your tail again.
“That mermaid of yours needs to get here now!” Jack yells.
“Please, please, please–” He whispered, scanning the water.
“What’s that?” Elizabeth shouts, making Will’s eyes shoot to where she’s pointing, a glimmer in the surface against the side of the ship. He smiles, feeling a jolt as you help move the ship through the channel.
“I told you!” He calls out to Jack happily, with a grin over his shoulder. The man moves to stand beside him, watching you with interest.
“So they do exist.” He hums. “Marty! Grab a net!”
“Jack no–!” The captain turns to Marty.
“The second we’re through that channel, get her up here.” Jack’s shoulder is yanked back by Will’s firm hand and a pistol barrel to his throat.
“Don’t hurt her.”
“We never said anything about leaving her there.” Jack grins, making Will load the pistol, expression tightening. “You need to get better at making deals with pirates, mate.” A horrible screech fills the air as the net is thrown, the channel giving way to the ocean on the other side of the island, and Will watches helplessly as your body is thrown on deck.
“Let me at least be the one to talk to her… please.” He pleased, tucking his pistol back against his hip. Jack glances at the man for a long moment before nodding.
“Bring her down to the private quarters and leave her with Will.” The crew groans, obviously wanting to ogle your foreign form. Will nods, following the crew down and shutting the door behind himself. You hiss as he comes closer, teeth barred, his hands raised in surrender.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry… I asked them not to–” He gently and slowly cuts away the net, starting at your tail. Your hissing quiets as he peels the twined ropes from your form.
“I was helping your ship.” You whisper, making him nod sympathetically, reaching out to touch the rope burns that littered your arms.
“Can I help you with these?” You glance at your skin, letting out a soft hiss of pain and gently nodding. He gives you a light smile, standing to find a salve and sitting back beside you on the bed.
“Why am I on a ship?”
“You weren’t supposed to be.”
“Are you going to kill me?” The softness in your tone makes his heart drop, a soft sigh leaving his nose as he massages the salve into your delicate skin, avoiding the small patches of scales.
“No. And I will make sure no one does.” You nod slowly, wincing at the treatment. He mutters another soft apology. “Why were you in the river?”
“River?”
“I would think mermaids live in the ocean.”
“Ocean?” Your brows furrow, watching his expression closely.
“Have you ever left the– your home?” You shake your head, finally looking around the space and observing the space around you.
“No. I like my friends there. There’s a family of ducks. And a very big school of fish that passes by quite often.”
“And you help the ships through, yes?” You nod, tracing a small patch of scales on your stomach. He watches you carefully, heart flooded with gentle affection.
“It’s a difficult channel to navigate.”
“That’s why I had the captain bring us through… I knew you’d help. I didn’t… mean for any of this.” He motions to the discarded net.
“I don’t know your name. I’ve seen you practicing with the swords… every night.”
“It’s Will. Three hours a day.” He smiles with a nod. “You were watching?”
“Besides the creatures and some boats… not much comes through my home. You’re fun to watch. Good with swords… Will.” He smiles at his name on your lips.
“I’ll take the compliment…” He watches you for a long moment as you continue to trace the patch of scales. “Can I touch it?”
“What?”
“Your tail.” Your head tilts with a questioning glance.
“Why?”
“You’re the first mermaid I’ve seen.”
“Is there more of my kind?”
“You’ve truly never left the river, hm?” You shake your head. You sit up, head tilted as Will watches you intently.
“There’s a whale! It’s hurt!” You cry out, gripping the sleeve of his blouse.
“What?”
“It’s calling out for help! I need to help it!” You wriggle, struggling to get up from the bed. Will grab your arm, fingers digging into tender flesh and making you hiss. “It needs help!”
“I cannot let you go!”
“I’ll come back! I do not– this water is unfamiliar, but I must help the creature!” You watch Will debate his options before rubbing his face and letting out a sigh.
“Jack is going to kill me.” You shriek softly as you are lifted into Will’s arms and shuffled through the ship. One of his hands gently guards your head as he steps onto the deck, the crew turning their eyes.
“Can I drop you from this high?”
“Will I land in water?”
“Yes.”
“Please.” He nods, rushing to the edge and gently dropping you off the side. Your tail sparkles in the morning sunlight before you plunge into the water.
“What the hell was that for?” Elizabeth snarls, pulling from Jack’s gentle hold on her waist.
“Did you just set my mermaid free?” Jack asks, moving into Will’s space and watching the water.
“She heard a whale.” Both Elizabeth and Jack send him unamused glances.
“What does that even mean?” The woman asks.
“A whale was hurt and calling out for help. She said she’d swim back. She doesn’t know the sea.”
“She’s a mermaid.”
“She’s never left the river.”
“Will!” You call out, making all three heads turn your way. “I need a knife! It’s caught in a net!” He nods, grabbing the knife from his belt.” You nod, motioning for him to drop it. You avoid it, grabbing it as it slips beneath the water. You return to the large animal, beginning to cut the nets away from its skin. The animal lets out soft, appreciative noises only you can. You pull the net away, and the whale swims forward, squealing softly. You blow the animal a kiss before clutching the knife close and swimming back to the surface. “All done!” You smile proudly, Will matching your expression.
“How do you propose we get her back up?”
“Lower a long boat.”
“We can just use another net–” Elizabeth suggests, making Will cut her off.
“She’s hurt from the last one. Lower a long boat.” Jack rolls his eyes but motions for the crew to follow the order, pulling Elizabeth back into his side. You watch from the surface, face puzzled as the boat hits the water.
“What do I do with this?” You yell to Will, making an affectionate smile break across his face. He throws a leg over the railing, using the ropes to get down into the boat.
“It’s like the ship but smaller.” He offers a kind smile and a hand, lifting you into the boat, being mindful of your tail. You hold his knife out to him as the crew lifts you back on board.
“It was stuck in a net!” Will nods, helping you from the long boat, holding you gently in his arms as he steps back on deck.
“I’m taking her back down to the chambers–”
“Why can’t I stay here?” Will looks from you to Jack and Elizabeth, raising a brow.
“You have to find a place for her to sit, and if we get attacked, she’s saving herself.” Jack dismisses, bringing Elizabeth’s hand to his mouth and moving back up to the wheel. Will shoots you a weak smile, clutching you closer. He gently asks Cotton to push a few barrels together, the man nodding and doing the favor. Will gently set you down on the barrels so you can look over the edge.
“I liked it out there… I didn’t realize there was… so much.”
“So much what?” Will asks softly, reaching out to touch your tail but stopping his hand.
“Water… so many new creatures were speaking! That whale had a daughter whom she loves very much. Do you still want to touch it?” You tilt your head watching the movement of his hand.
“If you do not mind.” You shake your head, watching his tan finger gently trace the pattern of your scales. “It’s softer than I’d imagine.” You stifle a giggle at the ticklish feeling, making Will’s smile widen.
“I’ve never had someone touch it.” You grin.

“Captain Jack? May I go in the water?” You ask gently, watching the crew head into Tortuga. It’d been a few weeks since you’d been brought aboard, attached to Will’s side and helping in the small ways you could. You navigated the crew through reefs and rocks from below the surface, helped various animals along the way (to Jack and Elizabeth’s dismay), and even caught fish when the crew was lacking in meals.
Jack had grown fond of you (even though he’d never admit it, and Elizabeth would probably skin him alive if she knew) and glanced at you as your question rang out. “Not here. This is the least safe place for a creature such as yourself. We need to get you down to the private quarters.” He sighs, rubbing his temples.
“Why?” You pinch a frown.
“They’ll hunt you here. Cut off your tail and count your scales.” Your expression drops in fear, looking back over.
“How long till you come back?”
“Three days, probably.”
“All alone?”
“Will will probably come back for you.” Jack moves to gently lift you, moving you below deck. You watch him leave with a frown, the door locking behind you. A huff leaves your mouth as you glance around the room, grabbing the blankets and pulling them around you.

When Will returns that night, he gently unlocks the door and steps into what was slowly morphing into your space. He smiles, seeing your tail fins peeking out of the blankets, which are clutched close to your face. He reaches out gently to touch your tail, making your eyes snap open. “Will! Has it been three days already?” He shakes his head, helping you sit up before sitting close beside you, hand drifting to caress your scales.
“Jack said you’d be gone three days!”
“You fell asleep, and I care enough to come back to check on you.”
“He said I couldn’t go out for a swim.”
“Believe me… Tortuga is not the place you want to go for a swim. It’s a haven for the pirates… and pirates love mermaids.”
“Jack said they’d hunt me and take my scales.” Will solemnly nods. “I haven’t swam in days… My tail… hurts.” Will shoots you a sympathetic glance, intertwining his hand with yours. Your chin moves to rest on his shoulder, blinking up at him as he watches you.
“They’ll hunt you. Most pirates are not kind.”
“You are.” He nods, cupping your jaw and kissing your cheek. “You’re very kind to me.”
“Cannot imagine hurting such a beautiful creature.”
“I am beautiful?” He nods gently, kissing your temple again.
“Pirates long for you because of your beauty.”
“Will?”
“Hm?”
“That thing that Elizabeth and Jack do when they’re… happy? With each other.”
“What thing?”
“They press their faces together! Like you just did here?” You point gently to your temple.
“A kiss?”
“Is that what it’s called?” He smiles and nods.
“And people do it because they’re happy?”
“It’s a show… of love.” You reach up to trace the blush that crosses his cheeks.
“Love?” Will nods, smiling again and making you giggle.
“So you love me?” His brows furrowed, and his blush deepened beneath his tanned skin.
“Maybe I do.” He hums, pulling you closer.

“Jack. We need to set sail.”
“We’ve still got another two nights!” The man says happily, blood clearly running with run as Elizabeth hangs off his side, somehow more drunk than the captain.
“She’s getting sick.” The man’s brows furrow.
“Who?”
“Our mermaid! She hasn’t swum in almost a week, and she’s getting sick without the sea.” Will exclaims.
“Take her for a swim!” Elizabeth jutts in.
“It’s not safe here!”
“Wrap her in a blanket and take a long boat.” Will stops, considering the idea.
“Fine.” He huffs, moving to make his way back to the boat.

“I get to go swim?” You ask softly, body weak in the warmth of the blankets.
“We’re going to take a long boat and move from shore, somewhere safer, so you can get in the water.” You reach up for him, making him grin. He takes you eagerly in his arms, wrapping the blanket protectively around your tail and moving to the deck and setting you into the boat.
You drift in and out of sleep as Will rows out, the sensation of the sea soothing your mind. “Almost there.” He says gently, making your eyes flutter open with a smile.
“Can I get out?” He nods, peeling the fabric from your scales and helping you into the water. The comfort is instant, the tenseness in your form easing as you eagerly swim laps around his boat before surfacing with a wide grin. Will leans over the side of the boat to meet your gaze. “This is much better.”
“How are the creatures?” He asks softly, making your smile widen.
“They are happy.” Will cups your cheek, thumb tracing the soft skin.
“You are happy.”
“Will?”
“Yes?” His head tilts as he watches you.”
“You have kissed me.” He hums.
“But never on the lips.”
“That’s saved for very special people.”
“Those you love the most?” Your head tilts as he nods. “Then may I kiss you?” Will’s jaw goes agape for a moment as he looks down at your form, resting delicately in the water, droplets of water falling across your skin.
“Why would you do that?”
“Because I think I love you.” You whisper. “I’ve described us to the creatures, and they say I love you.” He leans down to meet you halfway, his lips delicately pressing to yours. A soft noise of excitement leaves your lips, making him pull away at the unfamiliar noise.
“Are you alright?” You nod, leaning up to chase his lips, making him chuckle.
“You’re eager.”
“Swim with me.”
“The boat–”
“I will bring us back.” You assure softly, tracing his knuckles that clutch the edge of the boat. “Please?” He sighs but nods, taking off his sword and setting it in the bottom of the boat. You watch him dive into the water beside you, your arms wrapping around his shoulders.
“Are you feeling better?”
“Much. Less sore… happy.” You whisper, kissing him again. His hands find your waist beneath the water, rubbing it softly and admiring the feeling of your skin transitioning to scales.
“I don’t like Tortuga.”
“I can imagine.”
“I hate having to stay on the boat.”
“I know, my love. Sometimes I wish I’d never taken us through that channel.” Your tail gently brushes his legs.
“Why?”
“Because then you’d still be free.”
“Am I not free?”
“Do you feel free?”
“When we’re not in Tortuga.” Will snorts, making you giggle happily.
“But you’re… ok with all this?” You nod.
“And I’ve learned what it means to love someone.” He hums, and you watch him blush again.
“You ready to head back to the ship?” You nod, hugging him close and kissing him again.

If Jack and Elizabeth thought you were attached to Will’s hip before, they were surely mistaken. You clearly weren’t fully accustomed to human cues, constantly kissing Will. It wasn’t like Will minded, completely infatuated with you. He protected you through each battle, making sure no harm came to you.
“Will!” The man turns to Jack. “We need her in the water!”
“Why are you telling me?” Jack gives him a weird look. “Tell her yourself! She’s right there.” Jack huffs softly.
“He is right,” Elizabeth mutters behind him, making his shoulders sag in defeat.
“We need you in the water.” He calls out, watching as you eagerly grin
“Happy to help!” Jack nods, watching Will lift you before letting you descend over the edge.
“I thought mermaids were only good for the fountain of youth,” Elizabeth mutters, resting her head on Jack’s shoulder.
“Turner’s heart is right sometimes.” He admits gently, making Elizabeth nod.
Hi love here I come with my first spontaneous idea 🩷
Reader is the Commodore's sister but sick of the ways of society. When Jack saves Elisabeth, reader is the one who persuaded James not to kill Jack and also the one he happens to threat in order to escape. She’s somehow drawn to the Captain and later gives Will the keys to the cell to set him free. Jacks thoughts circle around her, too and they reunite when she swings last minute from the Dauntless over to the Interceptor to join the pirates making way❣️
Curious of The Seas
A/N: Literally fell in love with your ask oh my god, couldn't stop thinking about it before I began writing!! Thank you so much for this request!
Pairings: Jack Sparrow x F!Reader, Will Turner x F!Reader (Platonic), James Norrington x F!Reader (siblings)
"Don't slouch, stand straight," Commodore Norrington hissed at you. You glared at your brother, curving your lips downward. You hated how strict and loyal he was to the British Crown and how he enforced his rules onto you, despite being his "precious baby sister."
Your brother didn't hate you, but he sure did a good job of making you hate him. He was pacing his quarters back and forth, rehearsing what he would say to Miss Elizabeth Swann upon meeting her. You rolled your eyes at the pathetic scene, realizing that if your brother were to marry Miss Swann you were next on the list for the most eligible bachelorette in Port Royal. Your body cringed at the thought and you wriggled your back to shake off the eerie feeling crawling down your spine and focused on trying to ease your brother at the moment.
"James, there is no point in stressing over something as simple as this. Tell her you are in love with-" You began but frowned when he interjected,
"Love? Don't be ridiculous!"
"So, you're not in love with her?" You inquired, raising an eyebrow.
"No, no, I very much am in love with her. But it is not proper for a man such as myself to say trivial things to the daughter of the Governor!" Your brother reasoned and you sighed in an exasperated tone, shifting your gaze out the window.
Elizabeth had stared at you with a quizzical look on her face when your brother and you had first approached her. You both shared the same expression of disdain for the situation. It was very clear to see that she was indifferent to your brother and surely was the very last man that she had any interest for. You, on the other hand, dearly loved your brother and wanted to save him from any heartache that she would cause him. You chewed your lip nervously, watching them exchange a few words of greetings before walking away. The commodore glanced over his shoulder, mouthing a few warnings to reign your behavior in for the biggest moment of his life before stalking away.
Huffing in annoyance, you picked the ends of your dress up and marched past the Governor who was just about to start a conversation with you. He awkwardly shut his mouth and watched you walk away to stand on the other corner of the pillar where your brother and Elizabeth stood. He leaned backward to get a good look at you, sending you another glare before returning his full attention to the woman in front of him with a nervous smile. You sighed, gazing out to the sea. Your brother had taken you once beyond Port Royal when you were a little girl and he swore it was something he very much regretted; all you could ever do since then was talk about sailing the seas. You desired to travel across the world, collect artifacts, and live a free life. Your brother scoffed at your desires, stating that he would rather die than see his little sister galloping around like a pirate of all creatures.
As you gazed out into the horizons with a look of yearning, you heard the loudest splash from below. Peering over the edges of the wall, you frowned at the ripples that seemed to bloom near the rocks and you instantly pulled back from your position and walked around to notice your brother screaming Elizabeth's name.
"What did you do?" You exclaimed, resting a hand on his shoulder. He pulled away from your grasp, beginning to take his coat off but you grabbed hold of him,
"The rocks, James! She's lucky that she didn't hit them on her way down! Come, we can reach her at the docks!" You urged him, yanking his arm. He seemed instilled with distraught, at a loss for words, "She must've jumped by your mere presence!"
Your brother sent you a nasty scowl and the playful smirk on your lips faded away instantaneously. You knew this was no joking matter; the poor woman could've died on her way down and she was to be betrothed to him anyway. As your brother scampered off with the rest of the guards, you found your feet rooted to the ground as you stared up at the sky. Something was amiss. The clouds darkened and circled about gravely, and the sea no longer held its silky blue blanket to comfort you. Before you could try and comprehend what must've occurred, you felt an urgent tug around your arms and you sharply turned to find yourself facing the Governor.
"Come now, my dear, you mustn't dawdle around when my daughter's life is in danger!" He exclaimed and you frowned at his words, resisting the urge to roll your eyes at him. Even if you wanted to help Elizabeth, there was surely no way you could swim into the waters with this puffy dress around you. You followed him down to the docks, pushing past the British officers to find yourself facing Elizabeth coughing up heaps of water from her lungs and then... a pirate.
With all the rifles surrounding him, you nearly thought they were aimed at your brother who stood in the way. You could only make out half his face, oblivious to the ensuing conversation that your brother was currently engaged in. You peeked around the Commodore's shoulder, carefully eyeing the strange man in your presence when his eyes flickered over to you for a sharp second before returning to your brother. Your breath hitched at the moment, taking in his disheveled and wet appearance as your brother remained as the shield between the man and you.
"He's a pirate," Your brother growled, his jaw clenching as he barked orders for his arrest. He ignored your gaping stare as he continued, "Sparrow, I assume?"
"Jack Sparrow?" You interjected, your mouth practically on the floor as you stared at him. The corner of the pirate's lips curved into a small smirk,
"It's Captain Jack Sparrow, love," He smiled with a wink. You smiled back before your brother forcefully shoved you behind him once again. He made a mental note to have a discussion with you about your behavior as soon as you returned home. He took the pirate's belongings and derided him for his lack of proper weapons, but it bothered him so deeply that you were so enchanted by the man. It irked him to think that his sister would fall foolish to a PIRATE of all people. He forcefully grabbed onto Jack's arm and began dragging him off before you cut him off,
"James! James!" You cried out, and your brother halted in his tracks and sent you a menacing scowl.
"Not another word from you, (Y/N)." He hissed, and you scoffed before pulling your skirt up ever so slightly to march up to your brother,
"This man, pirate or not, has just saved your betrothed's life! I suggest you at least show some mercy upon him!"
"One good deed is not enough to redeem a man's life of wickedness," Your brother corrected you as Jack was being handcuffed by a Redcoat.
"Though it seems enough to condemn him," Jack added, and you offered him a sympathetic look before turning to your brother with pleading eyes.
"Brother, please. I beg of you, consider an alternative for this man." You prodded him, as your eyes fell onto Elizabeth who smiled softly at your words.
"Please do so," Jack muttered, before dragging his bound hands around your neck. You gasped in response, tugging at the chains as your brother panicked.
"No one shoots!" The Commodore bellowed, holding his hands in the air, "Let go of my sister."
"Only if you return my belongings," Jack taunted with a haughty grin. He leaned closer to lowly utter into your ears, "You must be regretting your kindness, do you not?"
"I don't, but it seems that you'll regret it," You whispered, as you watched the guards hand in his belongings in a bundle. Jack nudged your back with his knee ever so lightly to grab hold of his things and you begrudgingly did so, before sharply turning around to face him.
"Now if you'll do me the pleasure... my, I don't think I know your name..." He said with a sly smirk. You frowned at him,
"It's Miss Norrington to you," You spat, placing his hat on. As you placed his sword, belt, and other personnel around him, you could feel his intense stare burning deep into you. If it was of lust or attraction, you did not know and at the moment did not necessarily care. Your mind was fixated on other things, and your brother was seething in rage as he watched Jack give him a look regarding your body against his that made him want to hurl. To think his sister was so close to a gruesome pirate! It was preposterous!
As you tied the last remaining string of his belt around him, you looked up at him with disgust. Not only was he a pirate, but this would be the talk of the town, and your brother's and your reputation would be spoiled. Your brother could easily regain his good fortune, but you were never as lucky. You hated the way the women would gossip and to think it was all spoiled over one man you decided to be too merciful with because your curiosity could not be controlled made you ready to commit arson.
"Is this how you repay me?" You hissed and the pirate smirked at your words,
"I saved your friend's life, and now you save me. Besides, you did after all wish for me to live. Now, suffer those consequences. When shall a beautiful lady such as yourself realize to never mess with a pirate?" He chuckled, before harshly turning you around with his gun aimed at your head. Your brother flinched at the sudden movement, making sure you were alright.
"Ladies and gentlemen, you will always remember this as the day you almost caught Jack Sparrow," The pirate's voice boomed from behind you and the very next second you found yourself thrust upon your brother and Elizabeth. As Jack Sparrow hurriedly began his escape, he did not fail to include a personal message from his heart, "Thank you very much, Miss Norrington. I shall not ever forget such kindness!"
And you weren't ready to forget him, either. It would be for another reason. As the night raged on with a surge of pirates infiltrating Port Royal, you felt a growing desire to do something about it. Your brother had joined the Governor for his safety and left you at home to be tended to by the maids. Upon realizing that the front door would burst open regardless of the circumstances, you quietly slipped out the window in your nightly attire and made your way to the blacksmith's quarters where you knew for a fact that your good friend Will Smith would be. Will and you had grown as siblings; he was there for you more than your brother had been. He had anticipated your arrival anyway but found himself in jeopardy when his ears gathered the news that Elizabeth Swann had been abducted by the pirates. He was pacing around when you arrived and he quickly latched onto your shoulders,
"They've taken Elizabeth! I tried my best but-" Will began but you silenced him, bringing a hand to his mouth.
"I know what you must be going through. But there is not enough time. I heard you helped imprison Jack Sparrow." You whispered and he nodded his head, eyes wide as he tried to make the best of the situation, "Come, I have the key with me, we can both interrogate him and seek his help." Your hand fell to his own and led him towards the streets.
"Wait a minute," Will stopped you, and with a glance over your shoulder you already knew what he was about to say. He was going to prevent you from going. "(Y/N), I know you've always wished to escape Port Royal, but I cannot bring harm to you once you step foot onto the waters."
"Will," You chastised him, "I am no longer a little girl. I am very capable of handling my own matters."
"You are inexperienced, that's all I can say." Will rebuked your claim and you gasped at his words, before furrowing your brows,
"So are you!"
"Ah, but I shall be bringing Sparrow with me to help find Elizabeth."
"Oh, don't be so dull! I can help Sparrow and you as well. Do not prevent me from doing so! If it is out of fear that a pirate may do something towards a woman of my status, I assure you that no such thing will occur! If he dares to even look at me, I shall see to it that his eyes are gouged out by his blade!" You reasoned and Will took a step backwards, his lips parting in shock at your words. You had the spirit of a pirate in you that was for sure, and that was exactly what he feared.
"I cannot let you join. Your brother is... already facing loss," He replied in an awkward tone, considering how much he cared about Elizabeth, "He would be devasted to find you gone as well. Just stay put for now. I'm sure there shall be something more exciting for you in Port Royal."
You muttered a few unladylike curses under your breath and reluctantly offered him the key to the jail cell, "At least tell Sparrow that I was... delighted by his presence."
Will raised a suspicious eyebrow at your remark, unsure of how to respond. He nodded his head and then left you alone, as you brought your hands over your arms as your mind wandered towards the sea once again.
To say that Jack Sparrow was surprised by Will's statement regarding you would be an understatement. He couldn't wrap his head around the fact that you so willingly offered him the key to his escape, considering how he had humiliated your brother and especially you in front of everyone at the docks earlier in the day. He chewed his lip, his eyes dilating at the thought of you. The way you stared at him in defiance, your temples rising and falling with the way you clenched your jaw. Of course, who could forget the sensation of your fingers pressed up against him as you fastened his belt? As much of the ladies' man that Jack was, there was something different about you. You weren't like Giselle or Scarlet, complaining about superficial things or just merely trying to get into his pants. He could tell there was this curious spirit fighting to break free when he first laid eyes on you. The way you cautiously peered over your brother's shoulder had made him... well, he certainly wouldn't say his heart skipped a beat. He wasn't a silly little boy. He was a man! A grown man, a pirate! CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow, mind you. And yet here he was, trying to justify to himself that what he felt for you was nothing more than just infatuation that would surely pass on.
But it didn't. It never did. While of course, his thoughts about stealing The Interceptor were his priority, he just couldn't stand still without his mind fleeting over to the very image of you, dressed in that regal bright blue gown and your hair all curled and pinned to form the most exquisite portrait of a woman he'd ever seen in his life. He smirked to himself at the thought of you, wondering what you must be doing at Port Royal at the moment. What if your brother had you married off to someone else? What if you were to live the rest of your life as a boring wife to an equally boring officer? He shook his head, wriggling himself free from those imaginative concoctions. He was a pirate, damn it. He had better things to think about than just a woman he had seen days ago.
"You've got to be kidding me," Your brother grumbled as he pushed past you. You had boarded The Interceptor with him, not because you had wanted to - even though you took every chance out on the sea with gratefulness - but because your brother was so worried about the possibility of your abduction that he wished you were beside him at all times. Including those incredibly still moments of him gazing out into the sea. To him, he seemed to have an air of control, all the world's burdens upon his shoulder. This was his duty. When you gazed out into the sea, however, it was a plethora of possibilities. The unmarked territories you could claim, the desire for you to seek out treasure from all corners. You could be free. And no one would stop you. Save your brother, but that was something he'd always do anyway. Your attention focused on The Dauntless a couple hundred meters away as you noticed flocks of the British crew on small boats were paddling towards the ship you were in. Your brother gazed through his telescope and snarled at the sight, hesitantly passing the device for you to see as well. From afar, you saw Will Turner and... Jack Sparrow? The pirate? Both of them were flapping their arms around trying to make use of the mast. You guffawed at the sight, laughing at them. You turned to face your brother who quickly reminded you with his gaze about your behavior and you swallowed the amusement away as fast as you could.
The two ships - The Dauntless and The Interceptor - were locked horns now and your brother ordered you to come with him to board The Dauntless and put an end to Sparrow's madness. You reluctantly agreed, your eyes scanning around to see any sight of the familiar pirate you had so longed to see.
"Search every cabin, every hull," Your brother barked, before turning back to you, "And you stay close to me. Do not go wandering about like a fool like you always do."
You glowered at him, electing not to anger him any further as you stood on the deck. You watched him disappear among the surge of officers onto The Dauntless. You sighed, pacing back and forth when you noticed two men swing over to The Interceptor. It was Will and Jack.
Eyes widening in surprise, you tried to call attention to the situation but your cries fell on deaf ears. You stomped your foot and watched Jack cut off the rope ties, one by one. His gaze was fixed downwards until he looked up momentarily, and there you stood. He stood there for a few more seconds, completely surprised by your presence. Deep down, as much as he hated to admit it, he feared that he would never see you again.
"What are you doing? Cut the rope!" Will cried out in confusion before he followed Jack's eyes to you. Jack looked upwards at the rope still connecting the two boats before turning back to you,
"Jump, Miss Norrington!" He instructed, and you stepped forward, holding onto a long piece of rope. Upon hearing your name, your brother rushed out of the Captain's Quarters, pushing past his men.
"(Y/N)!" He yelled, his eyes daring you to make another move. Realizing that this was the only opportunity to acquire what you had spent so long yearning for; the deep blue seas, the adventure, and the whimsical treasures, you sent him one final glance before running off the deck of The Dauntless and swinging onto The Interceptor. With the final rope now gone, and the ship sailing forward at full speed your brother looked at you as if you were dead to him.
When The Dauntless was far behind and there seemed to be no danger at the present moment, you walked towards your friend Will and the pirate beside him. Will seemed elated that you were there, and he hugged you so warmly that you nearly forgot that he was not related to you by blood. Releasing you from his arms, he sheepishly stepped aside as Jack Sparrow stepped forward.
"Miss Norrington, it is a pleasure to have you on board with us. I almost feared you might not have the guts to swing over," He teased, his hand graciously wrapping around your own as he kissed your fingers with such gentleness that it surprised you. You cracked half a smile at him, narrowing your eyes, before responding,
"You may call me (Y/N), and please, I never turn down an opportunity for adventure."
Please can I ask for some headcanons about dating Will Turner (Pirates of The Caribbean)? Thank you!
DATING WILL TURNER
You first met Will as a teenager, and immediately recognised yourself beginning to fall for him.
How wouldn’t you? He was charming, handsome and most important, incredibly friendly and seemed to be just as flustered about you as you were about him.
You were also a servant, so you could relate to him in a lot of things.
Neither of your masters were fond of the way you started spending time together at first though
Teenagers in love easily meant getting distracted about your assigned tasks
But, you proved them wrong and balanced with romance and work perfectly, just like adults do, so they ended up accepting it
(You actually did sneak away a few times without them knowing while waiting for their approval, but they never found out so shh)
You officially started to date on your 17th birthday
He was such a sappy romantic when asking whether you’d like to be his
He was first considering on serenading you but decided it would be too bold
So he gave you a bouquet of flowers one day and then just… asked if you’d like to be his
And of course, you said yes
There isn’t many “romantic” places in Port Royal for people like you, unfortunately
(Only rich people live truly comfortably in 18th century, unfortunately)
Governor Swann liked Will though, and slipped some extra money for him so he could take his love to a proper dinner, at least just once
When Elizabeth (your best friend) was kidnapped by Barbossa, Will immediately set a journey to go rescue her
And of course, you smuggled yourself into the ship too
Once Will found out, he was horrified
Insisting you’ll get yourself killed
But you remind him he doesn’t have any experience in sailing either
The rest of the crew finds out not late after
Jack doesn’t really care as long as you don’t just lounge around (like he would do if he wasn’t the captain)
(If you’re a woman, you impressed Jack with your determination after a bit of a slightly heated conversation between you, Will and him, and his stitched-up crew almost ditched him for allowing you to stay onboard/rebelled, but eventually reluctantly accepted their fate)
Will tries to arrange some alone time every once in a while
It isn’t very romantic in a traditional sense, it’s impossible to do if he was looking for candlelit dinners or a walk in a park
But he tries his best, and that makes it romantic
He usually calls you “my love”
But there are times you have to pretend you aren’t a couple
Because it might be something to be used against Will (or you)
Neither of you are really vibing with being pirates for the rest of your lives
Will only wants to make sure you’re safe, and it’s not posssible if you’re pirates
He’s definitely the type to get married eventually
If you aren’t into marriage, it’s ok though
He would like nothing more than make you his forever officially, but he respects your desires
But whatever happens, you stick together and will stand beside each other until the very end if necessary
