There are a few asks in my inbox asking why I've followed them back and whether they're in trouble, etc. I follow everyone back on the assumption that everyone has something cool and insightful to offer. Like foodporn and funny gifs of bunnies. Cookies and adorable animals are eminently insightful. If you wish for me to unfollow you, just drop me a line. No explanations necessary. In fact, the less explanations the better. My time on tumblr is limited and I like to keep it that way. If you wish to unfollow me, I believe there's a button somewhere for that provided by tumblr. Again, no need to contact me. Really. No need. lol Just because we follow each other doesn't mean you're never going to fuck up or I'm never going to. Don't try to make me un tag you or delete a post, because it puts me in an uncomfortable position. However, just because you fuck up once doesn't mean you're going on the block list. I don't keep a strict list and I don't like the idea that people can't make mistakes, EVER. That's ridiculous as shit. If I fuck up, you're welcome to make a sculpture out if it as a permanent monument to my very flawed nature. After you call me out, of course. If you send me an ask and I don't reply promptly, don't harass me. Maybe I'm talking to a friend, reading a book, petting my cat, eating some delicious food, watching one of Mads Mikkelsen's movies (Danish cinema is really good, who knew?) or reading some femslash. Those are very important things, which take priority. Don't worry, I'll get to your ask eventually. Maybe.

I'm confused- you just reblogged an ask where the answerer said that if a woman feels comfortable excluding transwomen then it's OK??? and that transwomen aren't women???? that's really terrible i'm seriously hoping you don't actually agree with that fuckery

for the anons and sundry thanking me for calmly and politely explaining things to them about their racism and queerphobia and misogyny while others are so rude hateful... our "relationship" is no different than the one you have with people who are telling you to fuck off and diaf we are not friends I feel no warmth towards you just so we're clear. g'day.

please stop reblogging posts to mock them without actually including the mocking in the reblog!! A few short words in the tag doesn't really do it, and it often feels like you're condoning what they're saying (or making it really easy for them to think you're agreeing with them.)

Thank you for the advice, but that's not how this tumblr works. I reblog a post, tag it appropriately and once I add the name into the Fuckup List and give my little snarky summaries, you can go to the search engine and make up your own mind on whether you agree with me or not. Besides, often I find out who to unfollow when some poor unsuspecting followers agree with one of the Fuckups. If the person I'm calling out thinks I'm validating them, the joke's on them. I am entirely unconcerned...Again, thank you for the advice, but there's a purpose to what I do.

A review of how Intersectional Fandom works...

FYI, for some of the people in my askbox:

Just because you send me asks and want a place of honor on The List doesn't mean you're going to get your name on it. "Placing" doesn't mean you're notorious or famous or anything like that (the hall of fame thing is a joke ~_~). It just means you've behaved a certain way and I want to use you as an example. Who you are, what your name is, your motivations are none of my business. Many times I'll just block people and move right on, because I try to keep a "professional" distance.

If you're on the list, you're welcome to bask in the negative attention if that makes you feel better, just know it's not really about you. I only judge your actions and use you as an educational tool, because that's the only value you have for this tumblr. I understand that you're a human being with emotions, blah, blah, blah, but that's immaterial for what I'm trying to do.

Very early on, I decided that I'd expect a lot of hate and be grateful to find like-minded people who wanted --like me-- to learn from my -and others'- fuckups. I didn't want to have high expectations and then find myself exhausted or disheartened.  I've actually been very pleasantly surprised since most of the interactions I've had have been wonderful ones.

I'm not fastidious and don't feel like keeping a detailed record of ever infraction because I have too many interests and too little time. If people find things they wish to submit to me, they are welcome to, but I can make no promises. There are days when I want to exercise or read some trashy Romance novels or play with my cat or hang with my girl and some phobes or bigots on tumblr ain't taking me away from all that.

Another thing, some people are confused as to what they perceive social justice and the left wing is all about. I don't know if you've been told some fantastical tales of how Democrats and liberals and those interested in SJ are bastions of acceptance, love and enduring patience and politeness. I'm here to tell you that if I'm not nice or accepting I'm not being a hypocrite, going against my principles or betraying the cause.

If you're looking for "love your neighbor even if he burns a cross on your lawn and turn the other cheek when he slaps you with a brick" you're knocking on the wrong door. You are accountable to what you do and are owed no special treatment or consideration. If you want acceptance for your bigotry and your prejudice, you won't find it here. If you want to learn from it, go ahead, if not that's okay because others are learning and I am too.

lol no never. I just thought your ask was great as it was and I didn’t really have anything to add since it was all there. Sometimes I put people’s names on my tags that are actually cool people I want to keep track of. No worries. 

I even have a tag for myself (intersectionalfandom unpacks) where I reblog stuff I have to work on if I’m going to call myself an ally.
