forgot to mention this in the post for ep 23 since I was so focused on the Kurea and Luluka interactions

but what i’m looking forward to the most now for ep 25/26 is Kurea’s scrunchie transforming into Shushutan

for those who don’t know, the Japanese word for scrunchie is “シュシュ” (shushu) and Patisserie Chuchu even sounds similar to it

that and the scrunchie’s color is the same light blue as Shushutan

if Eclair’s fairy partner stuck to her this entire time while she had amnesia, in the form of a hair accessory no less (tanuki are shapeshifters in Japanese folklore), then that’d be the sweetest act of loyalty i’ve ever witnessed in Precure from a mascot

almost right up there with Coupe-sama! 🥹

I’m Team Kurea!!!

This Cure Eclair mystery has been the most fun and genius thing the Precure franchise has done in a long time. It’s so cool seeing everyone break down the character designs for all the candidates, and come up with so many theories!

I can’t wait to see who she ends up being!! I’m honestly kinda more interested in her than Arcana Shadow at this point. Her design is so freaking pretty too. I love light blue Cures!

Who Do You Think is Cure Eclair?

This is probably the most they've hyped up a mid-season Cure so far, with a voting campaign being held where viewers can vote who they think Cure Eclair will be. It seems that the next 4 episodes will focus on each candidate, with the episode after showing the answer. I want to give my thoughts before the reveal.

Howa Kurea - The Most Likely Choice

I think Kurea is the one most people think will be Eclair. She works at a patisserie, and her given name sounds similar to "clair," as in "eclair." Also, her hair accessory looks like a butterfly, and Eclair has one on her hat.

Kurusu Eriza - The Funny Choice

Eriza is definitely one of the funniest characters this season. She's a rookie mystery novelist and a friend of the Cures. She's a little goofy, but she's very sweet and more competent than you'd expect. She definitely has the least amount of physical similarities to Eclair, but it could be like that to hide her identity, and we've had Cures who change eye and hair color after transformation.

Kaneda Rei - The Unexpected Choice

I think Rei's one of the lowest on most people's suspect list for Eclair's identity. She's the student council president at the Cures' school. Since the show implies that Eclair was around before Anna and Mikuru became Cures, she seems unlikely to be Eclair since she seemed surprised by Pochitan being a fairy and wasn't dragged into the space created by the Hanninda with the Cures. However, this could be an act, and there are also some theories that Eclair might've had her memories erased or altered after the Phantom Thieves' Guild went after the Makoto Jewels.

Ieiri Shiruku - The Red Herring

Shiruku is definitely the red herring of the group. She's a high school actress. I think she's definitely the most similar to Eclair appearance-wise, but her telling the Cures to not make assumptions is both a red herring to those who think Eclair is her or a way to divert attention to the other candidates so it's unexpected if it is her. It's probably why most people I've seen think Kurea is the most likely choice.

My Opinion

Now that all of our suspects have been introduced, who do I think Eclair will most likely be? Well, in my personal opinion, Kurea is the most likely choice. But in terms of who I WANT Eclair to be, it's Rei.

Rei being the only one who is a schoolmate of the Cures gives her a unique position compared to the others, who all have jobs, and Shiruku goes to a high school while the Cures are in middle school. This would allow for more school-focused episodes, as well as explore Rei's struggles with the distance between her and her fellow students as student council president without it feeling like it's detracting from the plot too much. I'm sure mentor-type relationships they could have with Kurea and Shiruku could be interesting, and their interactions with Eriza would definitely be funny, but Rei seems so interesting to me personally. Regardless, I'd hope to see the other characters still as recurring or even allies even after Eclair's reveal.
