OPPOSITE: forrest ( @howanangelcries ) CHARACTER: perion SETTING: early march
It’s hailing and it’s hailing bad, the force of it coming in waves. It’s the first pique in temperature since December and their first storm. This would make a lot of ice and probably break a lot of people’s windows. She’s lucky she’d spotted the hail as early as she did— heard it pounding on the roof and the ground outside. As soon as she’d realized what was going on she was scrambling around the house trying to close all her shutters. Leaving Marble concernedly following her around. She tells Marble to “place” in the living room after she secures that room.
Her phone ringing was the last thing she expected, and immediately she thought maybe she was being called into work. But when it turns out to be Forrest, stuck out in the open on his way home after a shift (and knowing what neighbourhood she lived in), she didn’t waste a second telling him to come to her place. “I’ll open my garage, just drive in.” She might have scared him though, the last thing he’d heard being her almost-scream and the explosive smash of a near fist-sized piece of hail breaking through her window before she’d hung up.
It had hit her squarely in the jaw and gone past her shoulder, somehow managing to bruise and craze both places and make her bleed. But she would continue to bleed while she finished closing all the shutters. She hears him honk outside and rushes out out to the garage, and open it, standing by the inside door and watching ice smash on the ground and skitter into the confines of the garage. His truck’s windshield are spider-webbed from impacts, and she closes the garage door as soon as his truck is fully inside.
“Are you okay?” she asks, heart kicking up just enough from the excitement that she forgot about both the cut on her jaw and shoulder, as well as the fact that she was wearing a tank top and showing more skin (and tattoos) than he’d probably ever seen on her for as long as they’ve known each other.
