Bob Dylan, Avignon, 1981, Howard Alk.
The Murder of Fred Hampton (Howard Alk, 1971)
(CW: police violence)
Left wing documentarian Howard Alk was given complete access to make a documentary about Fred Hampton and the Black Panthers. While filming, however, the Police attacked Panther headquarters, and the FBI murdered Fred Hampton. While all of this was captured, including both real and mock trials of Huey Newton, what actually remains is a picture of Panther activism, forming lunch programs and free medical clinics, and organizing resistance.
