How I become a Potterhead
I always say that I'm a great fan of Harry Potter, I truly am, really really am, but I'm not that typical fan that grow up with the books, (since I'm just 17) honestly I grow up with the movies. When I was a child, I never thought that it was based on a book, I just love watching the movies over and over again because my father always buys the VCD/ DVD whenever it was already out on the market. Once, I even brought one of our VCD copy to school to watch in our classroom with my friends (yeah we can watch it in our room just with my friends because we don't do anything that day and since the school is almost over that would be our past time and we are close with our teacher and we have a player and television in our room and so on) (I was on Grade 6) Then when I enter high school, I was 12 then, and it's the year of the last Harry Potter movie, I become quite obsessed with Harry Potter but I am too shy to express how much I love, sometimes during weekends I will play it on our tv but my younger sister was always getting annoyed because she said I already watched it a hundred times. When we went to the city, I saw a HPDH book I really want that but I was too shy to ask for my parents to buy it for me. Let's skipped to my 3rd year of high school, I was 14 then, I really really love harry potter, I know so may random facts by that time, and I'm really aiming to buy myself a book coz I haven't read one because I wasn't able to understand some of the facts. By this time, I also started to read books, but not HP, instead, I read the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series (I was borrowing from a friend) . I got so interested with it that i even wanted to study the greek mythology. I quite forgot about HP, but not only because of Percy Jackson, but also because of my studies and other extra curricular activities. But when the summer vacation came it became a past time of mine to watch Harry Potter series. School came and I'm on my last year of high school. Start of the school year, we didn't do anything except to clean and design our desks (yes, we are able to design and put anything over the desk), I printed my schedule on a sticker paper so I can easily stick it on my desk. Since I was still too shy to shout that I'm a potterhead but I really want to remember Harry Potter everyday, I put a very small harry potter logo under my class schedule. (I was scared to show that I'm a potterhead because almost all of my classmates where obsessed with wattpad, k-pop, love teams etc. etc. and probaly I'm the only potterhead within the school) But there was a friend of mine, the one who lends me Percy Jackson books, well we can relate to each other because we love to read, and now I miss her. Fast forward to my high school graduation... I got about 18 medals, I was awarded with some one semester scholarships, like that. And I even got a discplinary award? (I forgot what it is called) from a group?, which includes money, enough to buy 2 and a half set of Harry Potter books. Just then, I thought that I would buy books with that money, and yes, I bought a book with that, but just one book, why? Because I used the rest for my dentist check-ups. For now I own about 3 books of Harry Potter and I understand now about many many things that wasn't in the movies. Since I started college, I was able to collect things about HP because I became more independent, and I was able to show that I am potterhead without becoming hesitant or anything. And Harry Potter also become my inspiration towards finishing my studies.
