International Education Week (IEW) is an annual celebration of the benefits of international education and global education opportunities. In honor of IEW 2016, Peace Corps’ World Wise Schools program is sponsoring a webinar to share the World Map Project.
The Project offers a clear method for creating large, accessible, permanent map murals in community spaces. Hundreds of current and returned Peace Corps Volunteers and educators have painted map murals all over the world for their communities. Since maps are a valuable global education tool, useful for all subjects, World Wise Schools hopes to highlight this resource for IEW.
This webinar will share the perspective of current and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and US educators who have created map murals with students and community groups. They will share tips and best practices for creating a mural, and provide examples of how the murals are used as educational tools and community building. It is targeted at returned or current Peace Corps Volunteers and educators and their students, but anyone who is interested in creating a map mural is welcome to join by registering HERE.
