The lid of the trash can landed heavier than the pup had intended, the wolf freezing in place as its echoing crash sounded around the alley. He'd waited until long after dark to go rifling around, but he didn't want to risk waking anyone- or anything- up. Food was hard enough to find without fighting off other scavengers for it!
'Long after dark' would often mean there was one person distinctly awake. It was one of those sleepless nights, and then what better way to spend it than to wander the silent streets? Sasuke knew of none, so that is what he did. At night, every sound seemed that much louder though, so when a harsh metal clang came from an alley not ten paces away from him, Sasuke nearly jumped in reflex.
Fingers curling around the hilt of his katana as a precaution, he made his way over to the source of the sound. Pressing his back to the wall that lead to the mouth of the alley, he peeked around the corner, looking to get a quick estimation of what was going on.
What he saw was a dog. No, not a dog, it was rather big.. For a moment, he looked away, and when he looked back again, the dog was gone. Instead, a young boy stood at the trashcan that Sasuke now pinpointed as the source of the nightly disruption. Vandalism? How old was this kid even? And what the hell, was he sleep deprived or something, seeing things? He rounded the corner, calling out to the kid. "Oi! What do you think you're doing? Shouldn't you be in bed, hm?" His voice was hushed, but still stern as he approached, for some reason, katana still at the ready.
