How to be black and keep your chicken and your watermelon too!!
I’ve been going thru a lot lately. Learning and unlearning things about myself..becoming more observant. Trying to chart a path for myself to live the best life I most possibly can.
One of the things I had to LEARN—Is that black people are conquered people. Colonized people. Been that way since 1444. Been that way for a long time. Been that way under Obama, too. Will be this way forever, it seems.
That’s #1..
So me yearning and hoping for black folk who understand their politics and their place within world politics is mute. This generation of young black folk, black lives matter included… Are Seemingly invoking some new and uncharted pathway… #melaninmonday #blackout— but in reality nothing of value will come out of this revamping of “black is beautiful” moment. It will pass. Like it always does.
It took me a long time to know exactly why this type of posturing is futile… But H Rap Brown put me onto game… He said we live in the brain of the octopus/hydra that is the many limbed system of racism, white supremacist, patriarchal hegemony. For years I didn’t know what to call black Americans unique position within the world and Brown illuminated things for me.. We live in the brain of a monster. We must be surveilled. Must be quarantined. Must be neutralized and controlled, at all times, indefinitely.
Black folk really have no way out. Have no guard worthy of the name. Have a leadership class in place that cares only for the benefit of this system while they can covet its crumbs and reinforce its vices.
That’s why the crushing color complex still exists. Is maintained and allowed to persevere unscathed each generation after the next.
Black folk champion it. Use it. Bathe themselves in its glory when it allows them reward.
What I have learned is that I cannot stop black folk from being exactly what the system sets them up to become. It is not a personal failure on my part, but rather a testament to how Sophisticated the nature of this war actually is.
