I just had a little freakout because I've never seen anyone mention asmr anywhere other than on asmr vids on youtube and the fact that someone that I follow actually knows about it is really weird to me. Hello, sweetie pie! ASMR is totally fab. For multiple reasons, actually.
One: it is a great creative outlet! From Ephemeral Rift to ASMRrequests, there are tons of really awesome ASMR artists out there who put a lot of time and effort into their videos. They frequently have an interactivity about them that invites watchers/listeners to join in on what is happening. Take, for instance, massageASMR and his Dr. Dmitri roleplays: you’re a patient getting a check up, and while he gets to play as a doctor, you get to be the patient. It creates a great sense of belonging while also being creative and fun for the maker of the vid.
Two: it is good for people with anxiety/depression/etc. Ephemeral Rift has definitely touched on this subject and the idea that ASMR and the soothing sensations it evokes is good for people with emotional disorders, etc. It is a bit like hypnotic therapy where it allows people to relax. A bit like white noise that people have been using for years in order to get to sleep. It is comforting. As a person with anxiety and depression, I find them to be extremely relaxing in every sense of the word. It allows me to lose myself in a situation if it is a roleplay video, allows sounds to sooth my nerves if it is a simple tingle vid. Ultimately, it’s just awesome. I frequently write/read/sleep while listening to ASMR videos.
Three: it is good for aural learners! As a teacher-in-training, I have to take classes in regards to psychology so that I can best know how to teach students. A fantastic theory is Garner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. We all learn differently— though, most of use have strengths in multiple areas— and it is important to level the playing field in the classroom. Lecture out loud for aural learners but provide notes for visual and verbal learners to follow along with, etc. When it comes to ASMR, there is a great deal of auditory learning that can go on. A bit like listening to classical music when you study, the white noise provided in ASMR videos can be extremely helpful to those with aural/auditory learning strengths by giving them sound to tie information to.
Anyways, ASMR is super cool! I am a huge fan of it and those who create ASMR or binaural videos.
If anyone has any questions about it, or would like some video recommendations, I would be happy to provide links, etc. I can even make a section for it on my blogs homepage/tagging system.
It is something I have been into for a while, and I believe I will continue to be. If I can ever scrounge up the dough for my own ASMR recording/3D recording device, it is something I’d love to do as well.

What is your favorite city/place and why? Probs... Elk rapids. Just cuz White Birch Lodge is my little oasis and I can't imagine a summer not going there and I can't imagine how different a person I would be without the different experiences I've had there.
Are you looking forward to the next 12 months? If so why? If not, also why? No but also yes. Yes cuz thank fuck I am finally graduating and then summer and then starting my life away from the shitty people here and my disfunctional family and no because then I'll be leaving the good people behind too and I'm kinda scared cuz I don't have all my future plans sorted yet.
What is your guilty pleasure? Ice cream. Except that I don't feel guilty about that. Then.... midnight mac n cheese.
What was the last concert you went to? If you haven’t been to a concert, who would you like to see? My last (and only) concert was an Aaron Carter, Dream Street, and Michelle Branch concert. I don't even remember who was opening for who, but Dream Street was my life so I remember it being the best thing ever.
What did you last dream about? My last dream was that I had planned to have a summer internship at this theater and I was to do the costuming but when I got there it ended up that I wasn't just an intern, but that I was in charge of and the only one working on the costume for the multiple productions for the theater and I was freaking out and so as a way to calm down I went to this Chinese market and started looking at the merch and I wanted to buy this shirt so I put it on and there was bubblegum attached to the sleeve and so I ate it and then I realized the bubblegum came with the shirt and now I would have to buy the shirt but I didn't want to buy the shirt but then I had to cuz I ate the bubblegum so I went to the counter and the woman just kept giving me more bubblegum to buy cuz she thought I must be obsessed with it, luckily each pack was only like a nickel so it worked out and I walked away with lots of bubblegum and a crappy tshirt.
What is your favorite movie and why? UGH. Probably The Princess Bride cuz its a classic and HILARIOUS. But also She's the Man because it is also HILARIOUS and Leah also really likes it so we quote it alot.
If you could have coffee/tea with anyone living or dead who would it be? Queen Elizabeth. Because I love her writing and she is my idol cuz she seems like such a bad ass properly bitchin homie and I would want to bang her but also gaze upon her with awe and have her be insulted by my presence.

Do you like coffee or tea more and what kind of either? I like tea more, I prefer a nice rich blend, the one I drink most often is a green tea with ginger and rose accents and its divine. I like my coffee black and am therefore very picky about the blend/strength and only like it perfect.
Are you happy with the classes you’re taking right now? Or the job you have? Why/why not? Jfc. No. I hate school right now. I like my bio class and that's about it.
What do you wish were different about your life? I wish I was more motivated to finish out this year strong. At this point I just want the school to hand me my paper that says I'm done and leave.

I go to school at ten. I have band, then lunch, then US history, then organic home. Tuesdays and thursdays I go from school to western michigan university to take spanish. Mon Wed Fri I go home and play music for a while then eat dinner then do homework then watch my youtubers or tumblr. And then I go to bed. And then I tumblr. Until midnight or so. And then I sleep.
