A non-food post for a change. This male Garden Sunbird 🐦 (Cinnyris jugularis) has been coming to visit the Shooting Star Hoya (Hoya multiflora) that is growing next to the window in my bedroom. Every time it landed on one of the opened glass window, it will chirp loudly. I am amazed at just how much noise can come out from such a small little bird!

The Garden Sunbird (Cinnyris jugularis), previously known as the olive-backed sunbird. Commonly found around Southeast Asia to as far as southern China, Queensland and the Solomon Islands. Originally from mangrove habitat, the olive-backed sunbird has adapted well to humans that they even nest where there are a lot of human traffic like on plants at balconies and corridors. This male bird in the picture is only few metres away from where I am typing on my computer, is trying to drink the nectar from the Shooting Star Hoya (Hoya multiflora).

Also in bloom is the Shooting Star Hoya (Hoya multiflora); actually it is flowering all year round. The plant preferred filtered sunshine or bright reflected light as direct sun will burn the leaves. This cluster has 39 shooting star flowers which stay open for more than 2 weeks. As the flowers aged, it turn from a pale yellow colour to a deeper shade of yellow. Mine, I grew it next to the window which attracts Olive-backed Sunbirds (Cinnyris jugularis) to come gather the nectar.

And it's hard to really get a good closeup of the peduncle but it looks like the hoya multiflora is getting ready to sprout/bud!
