HC they had a mini garden
When I was a kid my parents constantly complained and hated their coworkers, so I thought inter-work friendships were stupid, and the only reason people would care about their coworkers is if they were madly in love. And even then it was tragic enemies to lovers.
So when watching the Harry Potter movies and seeing how all the professors got along well with each other, I fully believed every one of them were together.
i didn't even ask my parents because it seemed so obvious. And when I found out Snape loved Lily (way after it should've been clear to me) and Dumbledore loved however-you-spell-it tall-man (also way after I should've known, but this time I asked my mom if it was a date, because I'd thought they were brothers), you can imagine I was VERY CONFUSED.
Anyway the HP world is both more and less queer than I'd originally assumed.

I have a silly little question that’s been sitting in the back of my mind for a while.
So in the HP movies (and specifically the movies only right now), Remus told Harry that he knew his mother, Lily, and recognized him because he has her eyes. Remus also said that Lily was there for him when no one else was and saw beauty in those who couldn’t see it in themselves. The way Remus was talking about her like she is the important person to him. who he missed very much. This conversation seemed to be taken by fans as “Remus and Lily were pretty close best friends.”
Then we have seen the full scene of Severus’s memories in Deathly Hallows, being childhood friends with Lily, the moment of Severus holding Lily’s dead body while crying over her death, a conversation between him and Dumbledore with the famous lines, “after all this time?” “Always.” (Additionally, before these memories, we also get the like from him about Harry’s eyes). That whole thing was mostly taken by fans as he loves her in a romantic way, instead of platonic love for a friend he used to have.
So the question is, why people assume that Remus felt platonically for Lily, but Severus felt for her romantically? Why it wasn’t the other way around, since Remus was first to talk about Lily before the whole reveal about her friendship with Severus? Why Remus’s friendship with her wasn’t romanticized like with Severus? Or why weren’t both friendships taken purely platonic?
Maybe I am missing something. I would really like to know what ya’ll think, I’m curious.

i dont even like. talk abt my hp self ins which is my most fleshed out one. ever since my bf (bestie gf) reignited my hp interest weve been brainstorming the perfect polycule: tom riddle x my self ins x kawakami tomie. "where did tomie come from" well you know. things happen
anyway i remember being obsessed with trying to fit things into canon (well i always try to do that w my self inserts to make it feel more natural that they know the chars) so i looked up the full list of students in harrys year and picked lily moon. now she is mine. fuck u jkr. can she copyright all the side characters. no. she didnt even put this one in the books so Shes My Oc Now.
anyway the story originally didnt have tomie and involved the original canon timeline and had to do with lily finding ravenclaws diadem in the room of requirement and hiding it, thus harry doesnt find it and voldy wins. then i told my bf abt this and we birthed the alt timeline au where tom is born in harrys era instead and tomie kawakami is girlbossing her way thru europe or smth. Hell yeah
