Before installing Manjaro
Before you start installing Manjaro Linux or any other OS, you must do some basic checks.
Check that the HP Pavilion dv6451us Notebook PC powers on while plugged in. It is safe to assume that the original Notebook battery will no longer be a sufficent power source for any amount of time as it is from 2007(making it 10 years old at the time of writing) By power on, I mean it loads past POST (power-on self-test) and into the OS that has been installed on it.

Check various components of the Notebook PC to make sure they are still in working order or you can live without them. Here is dcent list of things to check: keyboard, touchpad, cd drive, ethernet, wifi, bluetooth, audio, microphone, remote, multimedia hotkeys, and usb ports.
Optional but recommended - Disassemble your HP Notebook PC in order to clean out dust in the fan/heatsink and apply new thermal paste. Guide with pictures here: https://www.ifixit.com/Device/HP_Pavilion_dv6000
