How to Install HPLIP 3.22.6 on Ubuntu / Fedora
Step 1: Download the installer file from the Sourceforge site or use the below command wget https://webwerks.dl.sourceforge.net/project/hplip/hplip/3.22.6/hplip-3.22.6.run Step 2: Provide execute permissions to the installer file and execute it chmod 755 hplip-3.22.6.run && ./hplip-3.22.6.run
The installer file will start looking for the required files for the printer and it automatically downloads and install the missing dependencies if any.
Once the dependencies are completely installed on the system it will run ./configure and then make command and finally make install will be executed which actually installs the HPLIP on the system. Step 3: Restart or RE-PLUG your printer. Once the installation is completed, restart or re-plug the printer, Device Discovery window will appear

Uninstall HPLIP 3.22.6
To Uninstall HPLIP 3.22.6 run the below command sh hplip-3.22.6.run --noexec && cd hplip-3.22.6 sudo python3 ./uninstall.py

Archlinux, hplip-3.14.6 und der HP Laserjet P1102w
Ursprünglich hatte ich mir den HP Laserjet Professional P1102w geholt, weil er sehr gut von Linux unterstützt werden sollte. Zur Integration ins WLan habe ich zwar immer noch den Windows-PC meiner Frau benötigt, aber schlussendlich lief vor einem halben Jahr dann doch alles super unter Linux. Dann kam ein Update von hplip-plugin und hplip und alles war hin...
Heute hatte ich endlich Zeit, um mich mal genauer damit zu beschäftigen. Die üblichen Schritte mit
sudo hp-setup -i <ip>
brachten nichts. Auch nicht diverse Versuche, den Drucker in Cups zu löschen und dann neu anzulegen. Schlussendlich versuchte ich, ob mein Ubuntu-PC drucken konnte. Kein Thema, die Testseite kam umgehend aus dem Laserjet. Wo war der Unterschied? Ubuntu nutzt noch hplip 3.14.3. Bei Archlinux ist mittlerweile 3.14.6. Versuch macht klug, also musste ein Downgrade her!
hplip war noch bei mir im lokalen Cache. Hier reichte ein
sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/hplip-3.14.3-2-x86_64.pkg.tar. xz
Für hplip-plugin musste ich aus dem AUR wiederherstellen. Die richtige Version fand ich im GIT-Repository des AURs. Dort muss man den gesamten Repository-Snapshot herunterladen.
Anschließend extrahieren
tar xvJf aur-mirror-046e47d5348b9f0d5ace75a72fa63784b31ddb8b.tar.xz
cd aur-mirror-046e47d5348b9f0d5ace75a72fa63784b31ddb8b/hplip-plugin
makepkg
sudo pacman -U hplip-plugin-3.14.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
Und dann hp-setup wie gewohnt ausführen. Siehe da: Drucken klappt auf einmal wieder!

Download last version of hplip: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html
Install hplip
Run hp-setup
If it does not find plugin by itself download it here: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/plugin/hplip-3.11.10-plugin.run (maybe change version number to match the one from hplip)
You can sst plugin manually by using hp-plugin
