Starting off my second Harry Potter tea tasting adventure is Sherbet Lemon (x). This tea was very pretty in the tin, the marigolds add a nice colour to it. It smells really lovely but not particularly citrus-y which was surprising, I thought it would have a lemon smell to it. It is however lemon tea, a subtle one but it’s got the tangy-ness of lemon.  You can’t really taste the strawberries, or at least I couldn’t in my cups. But it leaves your mouth with that pucker-y feeling of lemon candy and the first cup without milk had my tongue tingling too from the lemon grass. There was less of a puckering feeling in the cup with milk despite the milk seeming to bring out the lemon taste. I’m not sure if it was the milk or my mouth just getting used to the lemon. I don’t feel the urge to manipulate people while trying to save the wizarding world from evil wizards but I do recommend this tea if you like lemon : )

Tonight was the last tea of my HP tea adventure. I’m sad to see it end it was so much fun trying all the different teas. Elixir of Life was not in the sample box it was an add on. I was really excited for this one. It has strawberry in it and hazelnut. Since I was on a roll with the hazelnut teas I wasn’t even worried about that. The smell isn’t that strong which surprised me. The taste isn’t very strong either. It was the first one I tried that actually improved with the addition of creamer. Next time I have some I’ll try it with sweetener and see if that alters it any more. I was disappointed in the weakness of this tea though. I was really hoping for a strong flavor. It wasn’t a terrible taste just very weak imo. If you like weak teas you might give it a go but if strong is what you’re looking for I’d look elsewhere. Thank you so much J for sending me these teas to try. It’s been a lot of fun discovering new teas and finding out hazelnut tea isn’t terrible. You’re the best <3

Tried Polyjuice Tea tonight. This tea has a very interesting look to it. Way more then any of the other teas I tried. And it’s smells very spicy. I want to stick some in a dish in my room just for the smell. I love it. The taste was fantastic as well. It’s a very spicy tea that would be perfect for cold nights or mornings. You can really taste the cinnamon and cloves. It’s very strong so if strong tea isn’t your thing you might not like it. But I highly recommend this one. Both the tea plain and with creamer was absolutely delicious. And I’m still not over the smell. Seriously go buy this tea if you live somewhere cold and want a warm pick me up especially. And if you don’t buy it anyway because it’s worth the extra heat.

Friday night’s treat was Veritaserum (my picture). I was both excited and a little worried about trying this tea. It has raspberries which was a plus but also chocolate and hazelnut that I was a little unsure of. It smells chocolaty, not like hot chocolate but definitely chocolate. It’s not a particularly attractive looking tea though. At least not in the sampler tin. But this tea was so delicious. It reminded me of some chocolates I used to get occasionally, I want to say it was a fruit nut chew thing but it’s been ages since I’ve had chocolates so who even knows. I know it wasn’t like the raspberry truffles from Sees because this had a nutty flavour in addition to the chocolate and fruit. This tea was so lovely to drink though I couldn’t wait to try it again with creamer. In fact as I’m typing this I’m actually considering brewing up another glass. This is the type of tea you should make pots of tea out of. It’s just too good for just one glass. Maybe that’s because I haven’t had chocolates in a while but this tea is fantastic. I highly recommend trying it.

BeerButter (my picture) was the tea for tonight. Obligatory disclaimer this is the first butterbeer type thing I’ve tasted. I have never had the opportunity to try the real thing and despite having a recipe on my blog I just don’t have the energy to make it up. I had mixed feelings going into this because while on the surface I’m like yay sweets and enjoy sweeter teas if something is too sweet I don’t like it. It’s your standard looking black tea, so nothing special in the looks department. The smell was similar to those square caramel candies you use to make caramel apples. Slightly sweeter smelling then the caramel smell of the Felix Felicis one. The taste was very similar to regular Lipton’s tea. I tried adding agave and creamer to it because it’s suggested you add cream and sugar to it. Once I’d done that it tasted exactly like Lipton’s tea. All that time I spent in hospitals a few years back, Lipton’s is what they gave me so I became very familiar with it’s taste. Like the Draught of Peace this one had cream and vanilla teas in it. Perhaps cream and vanilla teas aren’t for me. My recommendation on this one is just don’t. The taste is fine but it’s cheaper to just buy a box of Lipton’s tea bags and you get the same flavour experience.

Tonight’s tea was Draught of Peace. Like yesterday’s tea this smelled really lovely. It was also very pretty, the yellow of the marigold flowers was striking against the black tea. This is an apricot tea which I was really excited about because I love apricots. Sadly unlike the other two teas I’ve tried from Adagio, this one did not have that strong of a flavour. It had a weak peachy flavour that tasted a lot like a bagged peach black tea you can get from the grocery store instead of the rich flavour I would expect from a loose tea. It wasn’t a terrible taste just not what I had expected. For the sake of continuity I tried a second cup with creamer. The creamer completely wiped out any peach taste and left me with a cup of ordinary tasting black tea. And while I had a little laugh at the fact that Draught of Peace had a high level of caffeine I actually am confused on their choices of tea for this blend.  They used apricot, cream, and vanilla teas. To me it would have gone with the name better if they’d used chamomile or lavender, a calming tea. I don’t recomend this tea at all. Very disappointing all in all.

Yesterday I tried Felix Felicis tea for the first time. It has very delicious smell to it. You can really smell the caramel most of all. The taste is very flavorful, a rich nutty/caramel taste. I personally have never liked hazelnut things so I was a little hesitant. But I think the caramel and almond balances out the hazelnut very nicely. For me it was sweet enough to not need a sweetener added, drinking it plain it was absolutely delicious. I also tried it with creamer (I use a coconut milk, french vanilla flavored creamer). The flavor of the tea is so strong that the creamer didn’t alter the taste that much. If anything it brought out the caramel more. If you like strong teas I highly recommend this one. 10/10
