for the identity ask thinguieeeeee multiples of 5!! :D
5. do you think of yourself as a human being or a human doing? do you identify yourself by the things you do?
Honestly this question is way too philosophical for me to give a good answer lmao... I also think it’s a bit pretentious, honestly. Like we’re all human beings. Human doing just sounds douchey
A creed? Hmm, I don’t think so...
15. five most influential books over your lifetime.
Different books have meant a lot to me for different reasons. The Redwall series was definitely really important to me when I was in middle school, and it really encouraged my creativity and really helped me fall in love with internet communities (I was a part of some really amazing fanfiction communities that were incredibly positive and supportive). In high school, I think it was A Separate Peace that made me really begin analyzing literature with a queer eye (despite the fact that I didn’t identify as any kind of queer until college) and is still probably one of my fav books from high school English (even tho I haven’t read it since and I honestly couldn’t even tell you what it was about anymore lol). Middlesex is always my go-to when people ask my favorite book, even though I, again, haven’t read it in a really long time. Its non-linear and multi-generational story-telling was really amazing and reminded me how awesome books can be. I also have to mention Fight Club, which I’ve actually read a couple times (which rarely happens lol), but it was probably more negatively influential because after each time reading it, I would just turn into a walking existential crisis and it was awful, but I did it to myself at least twice, and just the fact that a book can have that much power is amazing. Also, as a writer, I really really like The Hunger Games just because of how they’re written. While the movies are okay, I just think they lose a lot from not being inside Katniss’s head, which is what makes the books so powerful. That series is one of the greatest examples of first person, present tense, and I really love it for that. I’ve been wanting to re-read the series (because I read them all super quickly nearly 4 years ago now) but since I’m also writing more now, I don’t want them to influence my own style, which is what I know would happen...
20. would you rather be in Middle Earth, Narnia, Hogwarts, or somewhere else?
Of those options, Hogwarts for sure. I would die in Middle Earth and I honestly don’t know shit about Narnia. Tho of all the universes, I would definitely want to live in the Pokemon world, hands down. \o/
25. could you live as a hermit?
There are times that it is VERY tempting, but I think in the long run I would get very, very bored. Like I need to have some sort of media stimulation or else I’d go crazy, I think... And I honestly don’t think books would cut it. orz
Thanks for asking, Sen! :D
