I think my main issue with the media and like wider fanbase of heated rivalry really stems from the fact that it has blew up so much that it has breached containment from queer spaces/ often leftist spaces

Like if I had to explain it: leftist women and queer people= fandom spaces that heated rivalry used to exist within

Then they blew up so now it’s basically everybody and these ppl more often than not do not know how to respectfully engage in fandom or in queer spaces

That’s where a lot of stupid nonsense criticism stems from, where parasocial and intrusive shit comes from, where disrespect to the actors stems from, where the weird narratives surrounding sex and sexuality (both in show and irl) stem from, where thinly veiled conservative thinking comes from

Like so many of these ppl simply don’t know or care abt the respect needed to engage with queer spaces like that

Like I see many ppl be like oh maybe it’s women being in fandom space that’s the problem but no yall gotta be more specific women make up a large portion of most fandom spaces and have the experience to know how to respect the queer community (or they’re literally queer themselves but talking abt straight women rn) when doing so what the difference really is is that more often than not fandom spaces are typically leftist but now heated rivalry has breached containment into mainstream media

rachel reid you have the opportunity to do the coolest thing ever. you could make shane's heritage just a little less of an after thought. like just a LITTLE less. that interview where someone asks hudson how shane's japanese heritage plays into his character and he has to awkwardly be like "oh uh......i think there is a lot of pressure put on kids in all asian cultures" bc there's literally nothing to pull from in the book. nothing at all. and im not saying it has to be everything but like -- are he and his mom speaking japanese conversationally ever? is there a family recipe he likes? has he traveled to japan? literally anything at all???

ilya learns the phrase “calm your tits” and he uses it constantly, endlessly, nobody is safe. shane starts preemptively saying it at some point when he knows ilya is about to crow it at him, that leading them saying it unisono, he’s so annoyed, he snaps at ilya give it a rest finally.

cue ilya learning the phrase “dont have a rack attack” as an alternative, and the first time he uses it on shane, shane goes very still and then beats him with a pillow until ilya is crying tears of laughter

the other side of this brand is ilya slipping into shane and telling him “gonna fuck you so good you’ll still feel it tomorrow for our game” punctuating each word with a thrust hard enough to send shane sliding up the bed a little, and because there's one thing ilya will never be able to do is fuck the competitiveness out of shane, shane looks up at him, fuck drunk and still smirking lightly, saying “fuck me so good you’ll still feel it tomorrow too, it will be your consolation price when you lose”

and that is the kind of dirty talk that threatens to absolutely destroy ilya’s stamina

shane, face down ass up panting and moaning, telling ilya to fuck him harder because “wanna still feel you inside me tomorrow when i beat your ass”, and that proves to be a challenge for ilya because that turns him on so much he almost blacks out and blows his load on the spot

“they met at a mutual friend’s party”, and ilya doesn't know what he finds less believable: that shane somehow bagged a huge movie star girlfriend, or that he went to a party. peak sounds fake but ok, except it's not fake and his worst nightmare
