Madam Asma Jehangir passed away on 11th, Feb, 2018, and her absence in the legal arena and especially by her students like me is immensely felt. Not only was she an inspiring and brilliant lawyer, who inspired so many of us who work in social justice, we remember her today for her bravery, her unrelenting struggle and spirit and her ability to always speak truth to power and to always fight for it. When I was doing my internship, I opened files and read cases which she did. There were requests of people begging her to help them. There were cases which a lawyer rarely wanted to do and especially for free but Madam Asam was always there to help poor people who couldn't afford to pay to lawyers. She was the bravest lady who knew how to fight. We lost you too early Asma Jehangir, and today we remember your struggle, your contribution and your brave spirit, lighting the way for generations to come. Her daughter, Sulema Jahangir, also a lawyer and educated in UK has come back to Pakistan and carrying her mission and providing assistance to marginalized communities. #un #unwomen #hrcp #asmajahangir (at Lahore, Pakistan) https://www.instagram.com/p/Btv4kzqHse7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1lic0dxjy1q5v
