i think my favourite thing about both rose and john, is that whenever their parents show some interest in either hobbies or things, they both think their guardians are out to get them. john thinks his dad is spiting john with harlequins and cake, but im pretty sure he’s just doing that to make john feel better about his “magicians” while also having an interest in the matter, and then just likes baking? while on the other hand, rose probably thinks her mother knows how much she hates wizards but i bet you 100% its just a regular woman who just likes watching/reading things about it instead
