It's one of my favorite aus

first of all, I'm super glad that you like it bc its one of my favorite things to think about,

secondly, lately, I've been thinking about the HW trio. It's actually been hard for me to figure out how I want to tackle their designs and vibes without being super repetitive while also being plausible and an interesting take on the characters. So, I decided to focus on the fact that there are two heroes in one era and thus, two heroes' spirits.

General actually has the hero's spirit for the downfall timeline, which I thought was surprisingly fitting. He can fight with a magic rod better than any character I've seen and has a pretty strong connection to fairies. So instead of (just) focusing purely on his place in the royal army and his widespread fame (things he shares with Guardian), I wanted to give him a hint of gay sorcerer energy, and instead of having him be afraid of how the people will perceive his CLEAR homosexuality, he kind of leans into it and still gets away with his fake relationship with Athena because I think it's funny.

Also, Linkle's hero's spirit is from the child timeline and she inherited Hunter's dual crossbows and the nature vibes the heroes before her did. I mean, she's got the farmer energy that the hero of time and the hero of twilight have and I'm considering giving her Epona because of that.

In the new dual drawings of Sage and Guardian, you may have noticed that they have very similar scars on their left cheeks. This is on purpose. Though they got them from different sources and they aren't exactly the same (Guardian got his from Astor while fighting the hollow/malice versions of the champions to get to the master sword and Sage got theirs from guardian beams right before they died) the idea is that they got them at the same spot in different timelines, and the main difference is that one of them was able to heal, while Guardian remains with a wound that still burns with no idea how to treat it. Maybe that's why he's always wearing a sleeveless shirt, bc any pressure on the malice burns makes it hurt even more.

Okay so General is a gay man in a fake (accidental) public relationship with Athena who is a lesbian in a secret relationship with General’s twin sister Linkle. He helps them sneak around and in return, everyone thinks that he’s straight. I’m still deciding if I want to give him a secret boyfriend/ husband.

gender/sexuality for your links? i see that you use they/them for Sage, any other specifics?

For some reason I thought that I included that kind of stuff in their normal intro post but I didn't and that post is already outdated so whatever lmao.

Sage: They/She, genderfluid, AroAce, in a QPR with their Zelda as she's also on the ace spectrum and they're planning on having kids at some point as that's something they both want but they just aren't comfortable with doing anything like that with anyone else. There was a lot of communication involved and they're happy being little witchy cottagecore lesbians that sell potions and perform science.

Guardian: He/They, Trans masc, demisexual, set to marry his Zelda and become king which he is in denial about. Their marriage is completely political but they're on good terms and the other options for Zelda were really bad. Both of them have to figure out how to act romantic bc neither of them know how that works and it's a little bit of a comedy of errors.

Hero: They/ He, enby but generally presents masculinely, They were raised among the Kokiri who don't have as strong of a gender binary so he doesn't feel a need to strictly adhere to gender roles and generally finds them stupid. Bisexual, and he found this out after crushing on Sheik for a while, Zelda still finds this a little funny and they're still good friends. They're newly married to Malon and still in that phase where he's overly excited about it. They eventually chill out a little but it's still no question how much he loves his wife.

Hunter: He/Him, Trans man, Bisexual and was super into Midna but after she left he's been very hesitant to get into a relationship. He's slept around a little for fun but is scared of getting too attached. He could be considered somewhere on the aroace spectrum but he's not completely sure. (and neither am I), oh, also he's kinda gnc and wears traditional skirts whenever he's not in a fight.

Captain: He/They, genderqueer, pansexual, in an established relationship with Tetra, she gives all of her feminine clothes to them and he loves it. It's very common to see her princess jewelry on him. He also wears lots of makeup and generally thinks its fun to present femininely and has a pistol specifically meant for bigots.

General: He/Him, trans man, gay but pretty closeted, the hylian millitary wasn't exactly... progressive and he had a bit of internalized homophobia and transphobia that he's had to work through. There's a longstanding rumor that he's courting the queen which he's kind of uncomfortable with but he's very good friends with his Zelda and she doesn't really feel that way towards him so it's fine. He tends to avoid romantic relationships even though he likes the idea of one, He just reads a bunch of romance novels instead.

King: He/Him, androgynous presenting sapphic, likes a lot of traditionally feminine things and identifies a lot with femininity. Just not when it comes to pronouns. Likes when people use feminine terms for him and Zelda does call him princess.

Linkle: (i want to give her a better nickname but for now she's just Linkle) She/they lesbian, some days she's super fem and some days they're hella butch and she totally has a thing for Zelda and Zelda has a thing for her but they're a little secretive and experimental about it. Every Zelda she meets she falls in love with instantly. I don't blame her.
