HSHQTASK035: TATTOOS

Alexei has a lot of tattoos because he gets them quite impulsively. Literally it will take him one more fight with Anya to have him waltz into a parlour in Tokyo. Most of the tattoos are small though he has tried to tie them together with some shading and stuff but because he is usually unwilling to commit to be tattooed for hours, he takes small and simple tattoos. 

He has the Romanov crest by his heart naturally. He has eight b&w small flowers on his side, usually hid by his arm. The flowers represent each of his siblings and Irinka’s kids. By the second kid, he ran out of symbolic plants and just had the tattooist “draw something”. His only colored tattoo is the lily of the valley one. 

A good chunk of his tattoos are inspired by religious imagery. He isn’t very religious if at all but he enjoys the aesthetic. Then he has some tattoos with Slavic mythology motifs. 

The Gustav Klimt tattoo is his only nod towards Vienna. The window is a certain window you can find in central Helsinki.

⁺ HSHQTASK035  ›  tattoos,  piercings  & scars.

araya has a total of ten tattoos,  but i couldn’t find a tenth one so here are the initial nine.  they’re all fairly understated and small.  none of them are that deep and don’t have a significant meaning behind it.  she does stick and poke for fun.  she has a total of 8 piercings,  five on her left ear and three on her right.    

first & sixth tattoo — araya and lola have a yacht club. araya persuaded her to get matching tattoos with her. 

second tattoo — stick and poke she got of an elephant for thailand ♡

third tattoo — a cheeky little heart on the side of her butt.

fourth tattoo — she loves snakes and reptiles so she got a snake just below her chest.

fifth tattoo — white heart on the her middle finger.  fades really fast,  but she gets it touched up because it’s cute.

seventh tattoo — stick and poke of another cheeky heart.

eighth tattoo — a quote or song lyric,  don’t really know what,  but it’s something.

ninth tattoo — a G in cursive for her mom’s name,  geneviève. 

scars: has a few on her legs from wiping out on her skateboard and being reckless in general.

hshqtask 035; tattoos, scars & piercings

at the top of his right forearm, below the crook of his elbow, ray has an outline of a ghost. it was, originally, a stupid prison style tattoo he did on himself. it was, however, fixed up a couple years later when the ink started to fade. it has no particular meaning behind it, but it is the oldest ink he has.

along his left rib cage, is a tribute tattoo for his late older brother. the two used to love the zoo growing up and his brother had always been drawn to giraffes. the black and white tattoo was one of his more painful ones but it is the one he is most proud of (and the only one his father actually appreciates).

on his left hand, on the top half of his knuckle of his middle finger, he has a wolf. when he turned 18, he and his brother went to get matching tattoos. they always said they would be each other’s pack no matter what, so they each got a wolf to remind themselves of that.

the final tattoo, that rests on the outside of his right forearm, ray has a treeline reflecting into the lake. since he was young, he’s always been in love with nature and though he might be biased, thinks canada has some of the best forests and hidden spots. days before getting on the plane to join the program, ray wanted something that would remind him of home.

it’s a small scar over his left eyebrow, one that you can only see if you’re paying attention. when he was a baby, still learning to walk and climbing on anything in sight, raymund tried to climb a bookshelf in his father’s study. the shelf shook a bit, baby ray loosing his footing and causing a clock to fall. the small cut warranted a couple stitches and ray was not left alone after that.

when he was 16, raymund begged  his parents to let him get a piercing. while his father thought it was a ridiculous thought, they caved and  he got his right ear pierced. he wore it proudly for a year and a half until the earring was ripped out during a hockey game fight.

HSHQTASK035: tattoos, scars & piercings !

TATTOOS --- five ( 5 )

when it comes to getting a tattoo, isabela is the type to just get whatever she wants. her tattoos don’t have very deep meanings --- she just thinks they are pretty. all of her tattoos can be easily hidden for photo ops and the sort. they are an open secret. she has never posted a single picture of them and they are never visible in official pictures but sometimes paparazzi manage to snap an incriminating photo. isabela has sworn off flower tattoos. she absolutely hates them. she finds them tacky.

it was her first tattoo. she got it because her friends dared her to. she’s a scorpio and that’s the story behind the symbol.

left hip: a tattoo of a snake

this one she regrets just a little bit --- and only because she feel like it doesn’t work well with all of her swimsuits. why a snake ? one might ask --- because they are cool. they are a cool and fun subject for a tattoo. this tattoo was somewhat planned. she spent two whole hours looking for ideas and this was the one she settled on.

this is her friendship tattoo with bash, theo, hans & art. it reads: cokies & bash & COMMON SENSE. the first two words of the tattoo are written in pretty cursive, the kind that makes it almost difficult to write. it refers to her, art & hans and, of course, bash. the ‘& common sense’ part is theo’s handwriting and it was added when theo secured his place as part of the gang.

isabela detests the church and if it were up to her, the churches in spain would burn to the ground. however, she can appreciate good art --- and she likes hands. when she saw a picture of someone having this tattoo, she pretty much called a tattooist and scheduled an appointment.

right ankle, underneath the bottom of the fibula bone: a pomegranate

this is her latest tattoo. it’s the only tattoo that has any color to it. she plans on keeping it as the special one. it was cute, that’s all.

PIERCINGS --- five ( 5 )

she only has piercings in her ears. she has both of her ears pierced. then she also has an industrial piercing in her right ear --- she keeps taking the rod out quite often. she has had to have it repierced at least three times. she never learns. in her right ear she also has a helix piercing and an upper lobe piercing. on her left ear she has a tragus.

SCARS --- two ( 2 )

it’s an ugly uneven scar from taking a bad fall onto a rough pavement. lots of crying and cursing was involved.

she was eight. she was playing in the pool. she tried to get out. she miscalculated her strength and instead of getting herself out of the pool, her arms gave out and her chin collided with the edge of the pool.

𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝟎𝟑𝟓: tattoos!!

scout has five tattoos and counting. the “itch” is a real thing; she’s gotten all of hers over the course of three years and is already looking into studios in phuket. so far all of them are from the same place, nice tattoo parlor in brooklyn. ( all of these are by @inkynas on instagram except #5, which was designed by chella man. )

backstories / descriptions / bigger versions below the cut!

1. chrysler building, left ribcage

pretty basic design of the top of the chrysler building that she got right after she moved to new york city. the artist kept asking if she was sure she wanted to get her first tattoo on her ribcage and she kept brushing her off, only to find out that ribcage tattoos really do hurt like a motherfucker. she waited awhile for her next one after that.

2. fork with spaghetti, right bicep

this one was for shits and gigs tbh. one day she was just like, “you know what i love? spaghetti,” so she asked her artist to come up with something cute, and that’s what she got.

3. graph with a wave, left bicep

a lot of people ask her what this one means, and she likes to fuck with them by making up something new and pretentious every time. there’s really no meaning; it’s a really cool flash design that her artist offered one weekend.

4. escher-esque doors/stairs, right forearm

scout loved art as a subject when she was younger, and she has really strong memories of a big poster of mc escher’s stairs in her favorite art teacher’s class, so she did a pared down version of them as a tattoo. it’s also fitting because the games she designs are very inception-y, they’re filled with paradoxes and they fuck with your head.

5. commissioned design from chella man, right bicep

this is actually one of my tattoos, but it seemed like one scout would be into so i gave it to her too. chella man is an artist/activist/actor based in new york and you can commission him for tattoos! i just asked him for any design he felt inspired to draw, and this is what he came up with. it’s definitely my favorite of all my tattoos

HSHQTASK # 𝟬𝟯𝟱    &   TATTOOS, PIERCINGS, SCARS .

    ┈ ・ éloïse has ( 6 ) tattoos, all dainty and small, more or less in a line-art-esque style; found in fairly inconspicuous places that can be easily covered up, if needed. all of them have meanings, at least to her. four out of six of them are matching tattoos with someone she cares deeply about. (and took more than a bit of persuading on their parts for éloïse to get them)

* these are not in order of when she got them.

first tattoo   :    ‘vis ta vie’ it means to live your life in french, it was a saying her dad used to say to her often. in a sense, a lot of her life has been weighed down because of her illness, and despite his overprotectiveness, albert had been one of the most proactive in helping éloïse make the most out of her life without restraining her too much.   * located on the underside of her left bicep

second tattoo   :   butterfly tattoo behind her ear for when she was going through her short-lived rebellious phase, where she so desperately wanted to be ‘free’ and ‘independent’, but her parents got into their helicopter accident shortly after it.   * located behind her right ear

third tattoo   :   matching ‘a’s that she shares with beau & louise, they all have the letter ‘a’ in a different font to match their personal tastes. the a is made in memory of their parents, albert and anne.   * located on her left wrist

fourth tattoo   :   matching penguin tattoos with teo because éloïse heard somewhere that penguins are friends for life   --   no one told her it was that they mate for life.   * located on the inside of her right arm, near the elbow

fifth & sixth tattoo   :    éloïse and araya have matching yacht club badges ❤︎   * located on the inside of her ankle

scar on her left elbow from falling off a horse,  she was ten and still learning how to ride.

six-inch scar along her sternum from her heart transplant surgery when she was six, it’s faded much and has stretched a bit as she’s grown; she had thought about getting a tattoo to cover it up but it never came to be.
