Yo wanna see something from last year that I never posted? This was intended as a sort of “trailer” for the first batch of episodes for Happy Times at Handeemen HQ. Each pic is from one of those episodes.
Which will be going up! Hopefully soon. I just gotta edit things so they fit with the new lore we’ve learned from Midnight Show. Hopefully there shouldn’t be much I need to change, though.
Ok for the angsty art meme I humbly ask for the high fever with Stacy, Daisy, Riley and scout taking care of her and trying to make her feel better please. (I’m sorry if this is too much)
Agh, it's finally done! Sorry it took so long, I just could not figure out how to draw Riley and Daisy. Nothing I did looked right at all.
Also, there is a story here! Which explains where Scout is, since I know you wanted her in this pic. I just don't have time to write it out right now cause I've got to go to work soon.
But, hopefully tomorrow? I'll get it written out as a Short.
The first in a series of scenes that, for whatever reason, don't fit into the Happy Times episodes.
This one takes place sometime after the first four episodes, but still early on in the season. Side note: the boys mentioned are the Oddballs, owned by @enderdwarf123.
It was a quiet weekend in the warehouse. The Handpuppets were playing quietly, Nick was painting, and Mortimer was catching up on needed paperwork. Daisy, on the other hand, was in an argument with Riley.
"I'm just saying, it's obvious that I'm Stacy's favorite. I'm Danny's favorite, after all, and he had to have gotten that from somewhere." Riley was smug, assured in her knowledge.
"And I'm just sayin' you're wrong, Hon." Daisy told her as she folded the towels. "She didn't even want to be in the same room as you until recently."
"She didn't want to be in the same room as any of us." The scientist retorted. "And while I still don't know how you changed that, it doesn't mean that you're her favorite."
"Well this is certainly new." Nick noted as he wheeled by to the sink, grabbing a plastic cup to fill with water for his brushed. "What could you two possibly have to argue about?"
"The boys overheard Stacy singing our theme song." Daisy explained. "And then Danny told us that she used to watch the show when she was younger."
"And obviously I must be her favorite, since I'm Danny's favorite and she introduced him to the show." Riley cut in. Daisy glared at her, but said nothing.
"Hmm, that is indisputable evidence, if it is true." Nick admitted. "However Danny is five, and young children don't have the best memory." A pause as other two considered that. "Besides, it's been obvious since day one that I'm her favorite."
'Ah, there it is.' Daisy facepalmed while Riley got riled up.
"She literally threw Scout into your face!" The redhead pointed out.
"What the hell are you guys yelling about now?" The three of them looked up, and up, to see Scout hanging from the top of the door frame.
"Scout, language! No swearing!" Daisy scolded, reaching out to let the purple-haired Puppet drop into her arms. "Now, what did you want, sweetie?"
"To make you guys be quiet. You're yelling louder than the TV." She complained.
"Oh, I'm sorry hon. We were just wondering about... something."
"I bet Scout would know." Riley pointed out suddenly. "She's always with Stacy when the girl is here, after all."
"What? What would I know?" Scout asked, but went ignored.
"Hmm, I must admit you might actually be right about that." Nick said, earning a glare.
"What would I know?!" Scout yelled. Everyone winced, and Daisy gave a tired sigh.
"Well, we were wondering if Stacy had a favorite character from the show." She admitted. "And if you would know who it is."
"Oh." Scout paused to think. "Yeah, I know who her favorite is."
A long pause followed, as the three older Puppets stared expectantly.
"Well!" Riley finally broke. "Who is it?"
"Oh, she made me promise not to tell anyone."
"What?!" Riley screeched, outraged at being denied the knowledge.
"Absurd!" Nick almost snarled. "Why force you into a promise like that?"
"You two behave!" Daisy snapped. "Scout doesn't have to tell anyone if she doesn't want to!" A pause, until Daisy herself couldn't resist. "But I will make you your favorite pie if you tell me-"
"Fuck off!" Scout snapped, and disappeared from the room at the next blink. Daisy sighed, lowering her now empty arms.
"Well, that was a bust." Nick muttered, heading back to his studio with his brush water. "Let me know if you two ever find out. Ta~"
"Bastard." Riley muttered, then stretched. "I'd better get back to my experiments, done." Her head tilted to the side as she thought of something. "I wonder if the boys would be able to find out her favorite. I'll have to ask them." And then she too had left back to her lab.
Daisy, on the other hand, went back to folding the laundry. The others may have been willing to shirk their chores, but she refused to. Even if her mind was still wondering just who, exactly, Stacy's favorite could be.
One day, Stacy does convince the adults to let her bring the younger Puppets home for a weekend. What follows is a two day long video-game/TV marathon where they don’t leave the living room until Monday.
This piece was a lot of fun to do. Somehow managed to keep the anatomy looking pretty good too. Honestly my favorite piece of the year.
Hey I just thought of something amazing and I had this idea for a while now, but Stacy introducing Scout to Suction Cup Man thus becoming Scout’s new personal hero. (if you don’t know what that is, just search it on YouTube I HIGHLY recommend it). Now imagine in HTaHHQ Scout wants to be suction cup man for Halloween and she takes the role a lil too seriously (And she still wears it even after Halloween).
Or hear me out on this other idea, in the regular Hello Puppets timeline in an au that they’re living in the suction cup man universe, he decides to climb the Handeemen HQ building. And they try to make him get into the building and turn him into a new host but as we all know he’s impossible to deal with and he annoys the living crap out of them. He sings them a special song he wrote just for them, he has a swear battle with Riley, he is constantly insulting Mortimer and make all of the Handeemens’ lives a living hell in general. In the end they all decided to get rid of him cuz as Mr.Cup Man would put it “You can’t kill as Suction Cup Man! LOOK AT ME GO!!!!” And he is just NOT worth it. And Scout begs to take her with him, and he does to train her as his protege and to let the Suction Cup Man name live on for generations to come! (If you could make one or both of these ideas a fic that would be AWESOME!!! But no pressure, you don’t have to if you don’t want to.)
I'll be honest, I don't know who Suction Cup Man is.
Buuuut, there is gonna be a Halloween Special for Happy Times at some point, and I didn't really have many costumes for the Handpuppets. So consider this Suction Cup guy on the list of costumes.
This one takes place the night of episode one. Mostly dialogue, but shows a peek into what happened that Christmas. Justine is Stacy's mom, while the man mentioned is Stacy's grandfather, who made a... well, let's call it a pretty big mistake.
"I just don't understand it." Mary paced the kitchen, gathering up the dishes from that night's supper and loading them into the dishwasher. "I can't remember a time she hasn't loved the show, or dolls or Puppet. Even if she threw all her other toys out, I thought for sure she'd be okay with the crew." She sighed, leaning against the counter. "I just don't know what went wrong Henry."
On the other side of the phone, a man with reddish hair sat at a table in his hotel room, mouth half full of food. "Maybe it's related to the trauma from Max. He gave her a puppet or her birthday, he probably... used it..." His face twisted in disgust. "Jail is too kind for what that man did."
""Kind of, it wasn't the same kind though." She paused, wondering where it had gone before deciding it just didn't matter. "I just... I don't want her to feel like she has to sit in the house alone this Summer. Especially with you gone for most of it."
"I'll try and get the boss to cut the trip short." Henry promised. "Is she still-"
"-sleeping in the closet? Yes." A sigh. "At least she's letting Danny sleep in his own bed now. Now to try and get her back into her bed."
"Hey, if it lets her feel safe then let her sleep in there for now."
"I am Henry. It's just... I wish she would've said something before it got to that point. That... that Justine would've noticed something was wrong, that I would've noticed." She finally closed the dishwasher with more force than necessary, turning it on. "Maybe it wouldn't have happened if I had just... paid more attention. She stopped letting Danny over, for fuck's sake she threw Will down a set of stairs. Why else would she have done that?"
"Hey, hey calm down before the kids hear." Mary sniffed, wiping at her eyes. "It's fine now, he's in jail and we've got full custody. Stacy never has to even think about her mother's family again if she doesn't want to."
"You're right, you're right. Although her aunt Libby won't stop calling, trying to set up a play date with Melody."
"Ew, Libby." Henry smiled at the laugh that came from his wife. "Alright, I gotta get off now, this article won't write itself. I love you."
"Love you too." Mary smile wilted as the phone shut down, setting it into the cradle hanging on the wall. She looked into the living, seeing both kids in their pajamas, watching some show or another.
With them sufficiently distracted, the woman went around and checked both doors, and all the windows, making sure they were all locked up tight. It might make the house stuffy sometimes, but she slept better at night. She then wandered into the living room, leaning against the side of the couch.
"After this episode. it's bedtime for the both of you." She stated, and Stacy immediately started groaning. "No buts! We've all got work in the morning."
A flash of fear showed on the Stacy's face. "Uh, do-do I have to?"
"Yes, unless you want to go play with Melody." The girl pulled a face of utter disgust at that, and Mary almost laughed. "Yeah, that's what I thought. Last episode."
Skully: "HTaHHQ takes place between 2005-2006", Me: *googles TF2 release date*, TF2 release date: '2007', Me realising I already made TF2 costumes for the Oddballs and will need to make new ones: "SMEG!" Also loved the short, (might need to make a after short skit) anyways, nice job :>
Team Fortress 2 right? They can be that the next year. Maybe a couple of the Handpuppets could get in on the action too.
Also yes please write more short stories with the Oddballs! It'll help me keep their characters consistent when I write them in Happy Times. :D
