HEALING THE BLOOMING CROCUS IS FINISHED! IT'S A WRAP! 🎊🎉
Phew. What a ride. It's the longest, heaviest, strongest fanfic I ever wrote.
A few conclusions came to me after it:
despite being exhausting, I can't wait to break my own word count record again because I know I will get plenty of ideas for nerdy contents to come;
writing fights is something I absolutely suck at and I will try to never do it again lmao;
I definitely should continue on this balance of fluff and angst and market it as Flangst aka the best thing ever.
I hope you liked it, if so please leave a comment on fanfiction, AO3, or Tumblr, I appreciate it so much and it means a lot, thanks dearies.
Also, if you wish to find more about my writing I invite you to order the free physical printed copy of Untangling the Frozen Knots, the prequel to this fanfic, which is available in book format and is super comfy to read.
Cheers to everyone, see you soon on the writing side, when Jennifer Lee will hopefully drop Frozen 3 and I'll FINALLY know what all those dorks actually do in their daily life lol.
The last chapter of Healing The Blooming Crocus has just dropped! It's time to binge-read! 🧡📖
Chapter 21: It can't be hygge without your family and friends
‘It sounds divine…’
Honeymaren recently learned that word, and she didn’t need to use it in her thoughts. But she couldn’t deny that it was the right term to express how she felt. The sound she heard was out of this world, pure, soft and strong at the same time, like a caress with character.
She stepped inside the room, a smile tugging her lips at the sight, which was just as heavenly.
Elsa playing the piano.
Actually, the more Honeymaren listened to the music, the more she realized that its style represented Elsa a lot. The action even reminded Honeymaren of the times she had fun with her magic in the Forest. Also, Elsa didn’t know that she was being observed at this very moment, and seeing her play the piano for herself was wonderful.
The Northuldra silently leaned against the wall next to the door, making herself nearly invisible, not unlike when she was hunting. But her girlfriend wasn’t prey; if anything, Honeymaren was in utter awe of her movements.
Elsa has seized the opportunity that the castle was nearly empty due to the staff busy outdoors to play a little. Though that was an understatement, for she had been at it for a long time now, and Honeymaren was almost glad to have been separated from her for the past hour so she could experience such a moment.
The brunette had been helping Anna and Kristoff in the courtyard with the preparations for the feast of the evening, to receive the Arendellian soldiers in the most honorable setting. The stable logistics took a while, and when Honeymaren wondered what her girlfriend had been doing inside in the meantime, she had been greeted by an enchanting melody as soon as she reached the first floor.
Honeymaren smiled tenderly as Elsa’s fingers were dancing, leaping and waving on the black and white keys. It was mesmerizing to watch, and soothing to listen. It was like one of her lullabies, even if the melody was quite rhythmic with a tempo that couldn't possibly put someone asleep. Yet the brunette knew that if she just laid down, Elsa could make her dream in no time just by the emotional way the melody was conveyed.
The only thing more beautiful to Honeymaren’s eyes was Elsa’s blissed face as she was playing. The blonde had a soft smile on her lips and her gaze gently laid on the tiles as she had fun. She looked so happy that it seemed that she was brighter than the sunlight bathing the room.
The halo wrapped the grand piano and its player in a warm cocoon, and Honeymaren easily understood why the blonde hadn’t seen time pass. Lost in the feeling, she definitely was on another plane of existence.
Her body was slightly rocking back and forth as she played, her head sometimes tilting on the side depending on the emotion of the notes, her bare foot pushing the pedals underneath to sometimes sustain the sound.
Honeymaren wanted to stare at this scene forever, but the melody eventually came to an end and Elsa stopped. She closed her eyes and breathed in and out with a happy smile, her hands resting on the keys.
The brunette pushed herself from the wall and walked to her.
“That was incredibly beautiful.”
Elsa gasped with a jump on the piano bench, and turned to her girlfriend with wide eyes and a hand over her chest.
She also had a pale face of surprise, indicating that she was mortified to have been observed.
“Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.” Apologized Honeymaren, hoping that she didn’t make her sad.
Of course, Elsa and her were very intimate, and shared everything, but the brunette respected her extreme introversion.
“Are you crazy?!” Scolded Elsa, her heart still drumming. “I could have frozen the whole piano!”
The Northuldra winced. She had no idea if Elsa was referring to the danger or the price of the certainly expensive instrument, so out of caution, she stepped back.
“I can go back outside if you want. You can keep playing on your own, really. The door was open, and I thought… I can even close it behind me if you want.” Blabbered the Northuldra, trying her best to make amends.
Elsa smiled tenderly at her care. “It’s fine. Please, stay.”
Her smile was encouraging, so Honeymaren walked back to her.
“I don't mind that you stepped in.” Said the blonde. “I'm just surprised that you listened.”
“How couldn't I? It was wonderful, and we can hear it from the staircase. I’m even wondering if the staff purposely slowed down their tasks to avoid making too much noise and listening to you. I knew that you played the piano, but I didn’t… I couldn’t possibly think that you were that good at it.”

Healing The Blooming Crocus 🍂 chap 20: "The truth must be found"
Honeymaren laughed out loud while Anna finished telling the story of Hans’ death. Rather than focusing on the negative side, the Queen explained her trick with the disguise, and how they took down every single one of the remaining thugs until Hans was on his own. The Northuldra liked this version of facts after Elsa’s letter, and grinned at the redhead when she finally calmed down and drank her glass of wine on the table.
Elsa smiled from her seat; days had passed since the event, and she loved to see the joyful energy now exhaling from her younger sister when she talked about it.
“Well, I’ll cheer to that.” Declared Honeymaren, lifting her glass.
Anna chuckled. “Didn’t we already celebrate like, three times in the afternoon?”
“That’s not enough times.” Snorted Honeymaren.
Elsa smirked.
“May I remind you that you emptied a whole bottle of Northuldra alcohol, just the two of you?”
They laughed, and Kristoff offered a new cup of tea to Elsa. It was a good thing that they remained sober.
After a light chat with Honeymaren, Anna gave a quick look at the clock of the room, and stood up from the table.
“I’m so sorry but Kris and I have to go downstairs, we’re having a late meeting tonight. Kinda improvised. About Hans’ death, yadda yadda.” Said Anna with a wave of the hand. The gesture was made in a very un-Queen way, but Elsa and Honeymaren figured that it was because she let out all her fun before meeting the Southern Isles politicians and having to address the serious topic of the former prince’s passing.
“Okay. Good night, if we don’t see each other before tomorrow.” Smiled Elsa, figuring that such a meeting would be long.
Anna embraced Honeymaren and her in a big hug that made the couple laugh. “You two can head to the private wings right away. I asked the staff to prepare the bed for you in the second floor guest room.”
The Queen and King walked to the door, and Elsa only registered what she had just said then.
“Wait. You what?”
Anna turned back to her, and shrugged. “Yeah, as Rapunzel and Eugene don’t use it anymore, it’s free. It’s bigger than the guest room you slept in so far with Honeymaren, and I want her to be all comfy.”
The brunette was about to thank her for such a welcome since her girlfriend and her had come back from the Forest under pouring rain. But Elsa had a radically different reaction and she stopped in her move. The Spirit was frowning suspiciously at her sister.
“What are you doing with my room?”
Honeymaren’s eyes darted from left to right as she was surprised by Elsa’s out of place and concerned question, and Anna’s smirk and deliberate lack of answer.
“Anna...” Groaned the elder.
“Yes?”
“What, yes? ? You know I asked you a question.”
“And you know that your room was in one of the castle wings that were destroyed with cannonballs.”
Elsa crossed her arms. “And the refurbishment was supposed to be finished when we got back.” She said as a matter of fact, since she talked with the architects before leaving to pick up Honeymaren. “Why the delay?”
Anna grinned.
"It’s a surprise . And you’ll love it."

Healing the Blooming Crocus 🎆 chap 18: "Where the north wind meets the sea"
The siblings instinctively turned to each other and exchanged a look.
“A secret room?” Murmured Anna, her voice weak with emotion.
Elsa gulped and found herself unable to give anything else than a nod.
Yes. Another secret.
Eugene walked to the bookshelf and observed the mechanism that had opened the secret door. He commented out loud about how it actually was a switch on the back of the shelf that worked with a weight. If the weight was removed, the switch would lift and activate the sliding on the bookshelf. That was a clever thing, for nobody ever touched this room in ages according to Iduna’s own daughters. Olaf had lifted a book that hadn’t been touched in a long, long time.
Kristoff picked it up since the snowman had dropped it on the carpet in astonishment, and flipped the pages. It was a classic book. Sure, it was beautiful, with amazing illustrations, and flawless sewing and finishing touch on the covers. But it had nothing extraordinary.
“Did your mother often read about architecture?” He asked the sisters.
“Not really. She wasn’t more passionate about it than I was.” Shrugged Anna.
She then widened her eyes in realization, and she turned to her elder.
“Elsa, on the other hand…”
They all turned to the Fifth Spirit. It was a known fact that Anna wasn’t much into geometry or anything like that. But Elsa was fond of architecture from an early age, and it was too much for a coincidence. Iduna was very well placed to know her daughter’s hobbies and what kind of reading Elsa would pick from her bookshelf if the occasion eventually came.
The blonde had an emotional breath in. “You think that she left this for me?” She asked her sister with a timid tone, like she was a child again.
Anna placed a hand on her back. “Whatever is inside, it was meant for you to discover it.”
Elsa’s emotion was clear now, enhanced by Anna’s words that stated the obvious but reached her heart even harder. Her eyes still fixed on the dark mysterious room, the Spirit didn’t see her sister’s confident eyes and felt genuinely sad to never have known about it before, to be the only one it was destined to, to only discover it now, to have made her mother wait all this time…
“Elsa?”
The blonde jolted, pulled out of her thoughts.
“Are you okay?” Worried Anna.
The elder gulped, retrieving a normal heartbeat and wondering how loud her breathing had been for the past seconds. How long had she been standing still? She looked down at the carpet, focusing on it, and she could sense all the looks on her.
‘No. This shouldn’t be about me.’
Her eyes were determined as she looked in front of her again, then she turned to her sister, a slight frown on her features.
“Anna, this room is meant for you just as well. Mother could have hidden something there addressed to you, not only me.”

Healing The Blooming Crocus 📯 chapter 17: "Cold secrets deep inside"
"I thought that you wanted to kill him as soon as you could to avenge me?" Smirked Elsa, reminding her girlfriend of her own words. "He's right there. Come on, be my guest."
Honeymaren's eyes widened, and she stopped in her walk as they all moved along Arendelle’s prison corridors.
"You remember I said that?"
Then she thought, 'Of course you do. You remember everything. Perks of being Ahtohallan's avatar, I suppose.'
The brunette winced embarrassingly. "I'm not really in the mood of killing him anymore."
She couldn't believe that she had let her temper take over her Northuldra morals. Apparently, Elsa was expecting her change of mind, and smiled at her.
"Besides", added the brunette after clearing her throat, "we need him to give us information."
Elsa nodded. "I'm glad to see that you came back to your senses."
Honeymaren couldn't help but tease her lover back. "Didn't you want to have revenge?"
"Oh, I would gladly freeze his private parts a hundred times." Smirked the Snow Queen. "But I agree, we need him to spit the truth about Hans’ hiding place right now. And for that, we must play nice ."
Honeymaren had an amused smile, grinning at Elsa’s rare blunt vocabulary.
The group of friends soon arrived near the cell where the thug was under great surveillance. However, Anna was the one who led, and she suddenly lifted her hand to stop them. They all frowned as they ceased their walk.
“What are you doing? His cell is on the next corridor.” Frowned Elsa.
Rapunzel wondered how the hell she found her way in such a maze, when all the stones of the prison looked the same. Eugene had no difficulty however, and couldn’t help observing around him to imagine the escape route prisoners could take.
“I’m stopping on purpose.” Smirked Anna. “Could you make a window out of ice in front of his cell? Which would take the whole corridor here? I’ll warn the guards to step away.”
The Spirit blinked in confusion, but nodded. She didn’t know what it was for, but was perfectly capable of the task.
Anna gestured to the soldiers, who obeyed just as confusedly, and asked for the cell’s key. The blonde looked at her, then turned to the corridor and started to raise her hands. However, the Queen interrupted her. “And could you make it see-through on one side, and opaque on the other side?”
Elsa lifted an eyebrow at the odd request. The others exchanged confused glances. They all knew how quirky Anna could be, but they couldn’t figure what her plan was.
The redhead gladly explained with a smirk when she saw all the interrogative stares on her, even from her husband.
“Two of us will go and question him, while the others stand on the other side.” She explained, pointing to the corridor in which the cell was. “That way, the rest of the group will be able to evaluate his reactions without him being oppressed by our gazes and close in on himself.”
She grinned, and the others dropped their jaws. Olaf raised a thumbs up made of twigs. “Amazing idea!”
Anna chuckled. Next to her, Elsa nodded then moved to execute her order, trying her best to craft what her sister had in mind.
Once done, they took some time to decide who would be the two people actually paying the bandit a visit. Elsa and Honeymaren, despite their direct motivation, declined the role. They would lose their temper after everything they had been through, even with their peaceful personalities.
Eugene declined too. Despite his genuine motivation to let his thief years behind him, and his love for his princely responsibilities, the man could still play on his nerves by manipulating him on that aspect, saying he is no better than him.
Kristoff took some time to think. Then he looked at Anna and Rapunzel.
“Maybe it’s best if the two leaders go.”
There was a silence, then they all agreed. Even Olaf, who nodded in a squeak of snow. He would have volunteered if no one else than Anna wanted to go. However, he would have used tickle torture against the thug, and he wasn’t sure if it was legal.
Rapunzel and Anna exchanged a determined stare, and the others placed themselves on the side of the giant ice window where the thug couldn’t see them. Indeed, he didn’t say anything, despite his clear suspicion as to why the wardens had left and now a giant ice wall was built in the corridor. The two women walked around the edge where they could join the entrance.
"Wait, who will be the good guard and who will be the bad guard?" Asked Eugene, grabbing his wife’s arm.

Healing the Blooming Crocus 🏹 chap 15: "In her song, all magic flows"
Thank you all so much for the support so far, please leave a comment! And thanks to all the people who recently ordered a copy of Untangling The Frozen Knots. I'm so happy that the hard book version goes around the world 💞
“Hans!!” Called Anna, her voice strong and powerful. “This is your last chance!! As much as I would love to teach you a lesson once and for all, you can still surrender, and we’ll avoid this fight!!”
Despite her good words, and her family and friends had nodded in agreement from their position, the fallen prince didn’t seem to care. He moved forward, and his dirty, rusted, but solid-looking armor shone in the daylight.
“I’ve come today with my army to put an end to you, Anna!!” He roared. “I’m not going back. This is only the beginning!!”
The Queen actually looked sorry for him. “Hans, I am once again warning you, this is stupid. We have the strike force of two kingdoms and the magic of Nature on our side. Are you certain??”
Hans gritted his teeth from where he was at her arrogance. “One thing I’m certain of, is that magic has nothing to do in this world!!” He exclaimed. “Today, we also kill Rapunzel and Elsa!!”
The thugs who were surrounding him grunted in approval, raising their weapons with war cries.
Elsa snorted out loud, showing her mockery to Hans. “And then what? How about Ahtohallan? Uh? What will you do about her?” She said with a raised voice.
Hans didn’t let the intervening woman lower his courage. “It’s a glacier, isn’t it?” He retorted with gritted teeth. “When my men will be done killing those stupid Northudra, well melt it down with torches until it’s nothing else than a drop of water in the ocean.”
Honeymaren lifted an eyebrow from where she was. “That’s… Really not how it works.”
She turned to Kristoff. “Is this man stupid?”
The King actually smirked at her. At least she didn’t take his attacks seriously, and apparently, Rapunzel and Eugene were not more impressed.
Ryder frowned. “Does he even know about the Dark Sea? About the Water Spirit’s guardian role?”
Nobody answered him, because there was a movement next to Hans that attracted their attention. One of the tall and muscular bandits who surrounded him, and had the role to both protect him and make an impression on the armies, had made a step forward, and he did an insulting gesture of the chin to the Arendelle siblings.
“You think you two kids can beat us? You have zero experience with what’s coming at you.”
Anna made a step forward too, asserting her dominance. “As a matter of fact, we have more experience with death than you do.”
