💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

I guess the easy answer is that it depends on the fic itself. But if we're talking about my long, plot-driven, attention-paid-to stories, then I guess it would have to be the thematic elements of a story, and how I carry that theme throughout. The symbolism and foreshadowing I use to tell it, and the kind of intricate weaving that has to be done to make it whole.

It's my favourite part of writing. What I love most is when all the little jigsaw pieces of a story come together to show the final picture. It doesn't have to be a mystery genre to do that.

I first got a taste of it when writing How To Kill Me. There's a chapter where Kagome sings a line from the song 'I Love The Way You Lie Pt. 1' while Inuyasha thinks of how he's going to eventually betray her. And then in Chapter 26, the song quote is from 'I Love The Way You Lie Pt. 2'... And that's when he does. I felt so freaking smart.

I've only gotten worse with it, but it is truly my favourite part of storytelling.

Couldn’t forget my tiny fights son. Out of the four, Conny was the trickiest for me, his head took me 4 tries to get right TwT but I’m really happy with how he turned out.

Finally, I’m going to make a slightly bigger Mukumuku so the sizing is more consistent (let me know if I should make small mukumukus and Isaos/big Mii kuns and Connys) and I’ll release the full set!

For your Sweet 16 AMA! Which fic do you consider your "frenemy" (as in, you have a love-hate relationship with writing it?)

The worst frenemy fic of all time would have to be, without question, How to Kill Me. I got to a point where I was simply tired, as much as I loved the story overall. I feel that way a bit now with That Flesh of Mine but we're in the home stretch (only 5 chapters left!). Maybe it's just a long-story-that-is-nearly-over thing.

I will not say Pennies and Dimes even though that is the first I have read from you and always come to my head when I am prompted like this, BUT. How to Kill Me? That scene in the bar when he almost reveals himself lives in my head rent free and think about that often (and just that Kagome. I love that Kagome).

AH! Yes!!! I remember writing that scene. It is absolutely one of my favourites in that whole fic. The point was Kagome choosing a side to be on: absolute demon slayer, or one that saw context and history. And this was so key to have before their relationship.

HTKM is also the closest I’ve ever come to writing a love triangle 😅

Writing the sequel was so much fun. I loved writing in Kagome’s POV, and first person. It’s been a while since I’ve done that...

9 for How To Kill Me (which, you should know, is still my favorite fan fiction of anything, ever, and half the time I’d rather reread it than read physical books)

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

Version feels really flushed out and while I didn’t have any of those, I had a lot of possibilities. Like Shippo being one of the main characters who ended up travelling with them, or Astaroth dying in the end in sacrifice (with the ending, of course, being him watching Inuyasha and Kagome kiss against the car, somehow alive/resurrected, being like mwahahaha my star, I’ll see you soon). But none of them really were more than fleeting thoughts, noted and discarded as the actual story developed.

Hey! It was so nice of you answering my comment under the TFOM preview! I just wanted to ask if you know the song "I need some fine wine and you, you need to be nicer" from The Cardigans? I got reminded of that while reading "How to kill me" and since you reference a lot of music, I thought of telling you that :)

C: What character do you identify with most?

Hmmm. Without a doubt, I put a tiny piece of myself into the main characters of each story I write, so it probably shifts though I would guess it’s more Kagome than the rest.

That Flesh of Mine is absolutely Kagome. Same with How to Kill Me, Instance, Not Much Longer Would You Be Mine and Drowning in the Night.

Weirdly, I identify with Miroku in Deductions? No idea why. And Sango was pretty much my only rock-solid strength in Happiness.

For Inuyasha, Tell Me I’m Crazy, The Truth About Love, and Kairos.

...So I’m all over the map.

Hmm, now it’s probably Inuyasha in Deductions but before it would have been Kagome in How to Kill Me.

5) character you were most surprised to end up writing

Kagome in Chained. I never really thought of her as a “tired assassin” but the words just came and so did the story. I really ended up enjoying it.

8) favorite genre to write

Without a doubt, romance has to be in every story or I won’t write it... But I’d have to say mystery is probably my favourite, followed closely by comedy.
