oh man
i stopped watching it back in s9 because i was sick and tired of the same damn formula and lack of actual character development, even setting aside the absolute disrespect levelled at the female characters on the show + cas by the writing (the fandom was a whole different, awful matter)
but it really was just Wasted Potential: The Show. like. i’ll never forget the outpouring of creativity between S6/S7 about Godstiel and what could happen there only for it to be like 3/4 of an episode, and then fandom barely had time to go super creative about the Leviathans and what they could be like before the show was just like NOPE and made them the most forgettable nonsense villains, and then again the fantastic creativity going on between S7/S8 with Purgatory only for that to be a big ol’ nothing too -
basically I’ve never known a show more terrified of changing the status quo, particularly after S5, to the detriment of its writing and characters.
