Between the World and Me was a book about a man's love for Howard University and his strong (not so hidden) desire that his son go there too... That's all I can currently say on this matter, though please don't take it as belittling, oversimplifying, or fixating. Just stating a fact. In an effort to read as much YA lit as possible (and pile more work on my already full plate), I've decided to take part in YALSA's 2013 Hub Reading Challenge.

The challenge is to read/listen to 25 of the 83 books that were named winners or honor titles for YALSA's various awards. The 2013 Hub Reading Challenge officially kicked off on February 3rd so I'm a little late to the game, but that's okay! The challenge goes until June 24th so I have time to get caught up. I've kicked things off with Benjamin Alire Sáenz's Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, which won the Stonewall Book Award, the Pura Belpré Author Award, was a Top Ten pick for YALSA's Best Fiction for Young Adults, and a Printz Honor book.

I've also decided to take part in the Reader's Advisory Challenge for 2013 -- you can read more about it on Angelina41's tumblr. The idea is to read a YA novel each month from a genre that is outside your comfort zone. February's genre is Science Fiction. My book pick for the month is Malinda Lo's Adaptation.
