Pretty white Chinese hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), or China rose, Hawaiian hibiscus, rose mallow and shoeblack plant is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. Does well in full time sun to part shade in dry to moist, well-drained soils/pots. Gets a bit leggy so I cut it back and strike the cuttings. This one is in a pot with free draining old potting mix and lots of other cuttings of hibiscus and a fig! Down at a family member’s place in Sydney and they have a beautiful big Pale Orange Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), Chinese Hibiscus or China rose, Hawaiian hibiscus, rose mallow and shoeblack plant is widely found in tropical and subtropical regions and possibly native to Vanuatu. This beautiful hibiscus was planted from a cutting about 20 years ago. Red Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), Chinese Hibiscus or China rose, Hawaiian hibiscus, rose mallow and shoeblack plant is widely found in tropical and subtropical regions and possibly native to Vanuatu. This beautiful red hibiscus is in a bit too much shade and has not flowered very well over the last few years. A White and a Pink Hibiscus flower on the same tree!! (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), or China rose, Hawaiian hibiscus, rose mallow and shoeblack. OK … so I’ve got a pink and a white flower on the one hibiscus tree. What’s going on here? We’ve had so much good rain that everything is flowering and now I’ve got butterfly caterpillars and tiny “inch worms” on my hibiscus. Some have been rolling a leaf around and using that to pupate.
