Always Be Here
Sean Falco x Reader
Word count: 363 (short, but sweet)
a/n: Pushed this to the top of the list for you, Bun 💖
Your startled cry jerked Sean awake next to you and for a moment panic flooded him as his gaze frantically swept the room, searching for the intruder, his spike of adrenaline ebbing away when he realized there was no visible threat, but then his eyes swung to you.
“[y/n]? [y/n]!” he exclaimed, his hands hovering, almost afraid to touch you as you lay there as if frozen. “What’s wrong?”
When you could finally move, your muscles unclenching, you bolted upright, practically throwing yourself into Sean’s arms, burying your face against his neck.
“I swore someone was standing over me and I couldn’t move!” you exclaimed, your words muffled.
“Oh,” Sean breathed, wrapping his arms around you to soothingly run his hand up and down your back, feeling you still trembling with fear. “Sounds like sleep paralysis,” he murmured, brushing your hair aside to press a kiss to your forehead.
“Yeah,” you agreed with a shuddering breath. “It just felt so real.”
“I know,” he soothed gently, “but you’re safe. I’ve got you, it’s nothin’ but a nightmare.”
Sean certainly had his fair share of those, and usually it was the other way around, with you comforting him, but you couldn’t deny it felt nice to be on the receiving end this time as you let him pull you down atop his chest, his long fingers stroking your hair.
“It can’t hurt you, darlin’,” Sean breathed, pressing another kiss to your forehead.
“How are you so sweet?” you mumbled, letting yourself relax in his arms, listening to the steady beat of his heart in his chest, right below your ear.
“Ah, it’s cause I eat so many sweet things,” Sean teased, bringing a smile to your lips.
“Oh, is that how it works?” you mused, feeling the gentle rise and fall of his chest lure you back toward sleep.
“It is. Don’t y’believe me?” he chuckled.
“Sean…?” you murmured softly, your voice sobering, worry creeping back in.
“Yes, darlin’?”
“What if I fall asleep and it happens again?”
“Then I’ll be right here t’comfort you again,” he whispered, squeezing you tightly. “I’ll always be here.”
That was all the assurance you needed.
