i keep seeing people refer to the max headroom signal intrusion incident as "creepy" and I'm not sure how anyone can think that if they've actually watched it. it is so clearly a group of terminally unfunny nerds who put zero thought into anything about their project except "wouldn't it be rad if we imitated a movie" (this is what nerds do) and then just winged it once they got on camera. which they didn't even have to do as the signal intrusion was pre recorded!! they had plenty of time to come up with something even slightly entertaining. even the interviews with contemporary television viewers who caught it live are 100% annoyed that Dr. Who was interrupted and 0% impressed, amused, or frightened by the incident. are you saying the average 1980s Dr. Who viewership is harder to scare than your YouTube binging ass. i mean
the signal intrusion itself, the fact that they pulled it off, and the fact that they never got caught: all incredibly badass achievements. calling local sports anchor a "frickin liberal" and then being awkwardly swatted on your bum bum by an unenthused girlfriend, much less so. and probably the very farthest thing from "creepy"
