By the time he had emptied another glass, only a few remained on that lost and forgotten tavern.
Hugo's finger moved around the edge of the glass, bringing some of its wetness to the corners where his lips hadn't touched. He was not paying attention to many things then, but his eyes rested on only one thing. In fact, only one person. The singer that hummed another song he didn't know. Not the typical tavern showman. A lot of the customers had left saying just that and the tavern owner seemed ready to finish the show. But not if Hugo could stop it. He held the owner's wrist and put a few golden coins in his hands. "Let the man be." As the owner moved away, Hugo got up and walked closer. He was in his "civilian clothes", black cotton shirt, dark steel plates over old leather. Nothing in him associated that man to the royal knights. It was better this way. Sometimes Hugo traveled the lands as a Black Knight, rogue in some ways, defending more than he ever could as a royal knight.
As if it had been part of his order, Hugo was stopped by the tavern owner that brought his another glass, the third of the night. Hugo barely looked at him as he whispered a rushed thank you. He was so close to the man that he was finally able to see him. His beauty, a bit rough on the edges, but beauty nonetheless. Something odd about him, like something pulling the strings of memory. He stepped closer to the stage, like an animal about to hunt, only to have the song around him stop. It made him stop too, now only inches away from where the improvised staged was. "Please, do not stop on my account. I do like to hear you play." He pulled another golden coin from the purse on his belt, pulling it out and showing to the man as he got even closer, leaning to leave it by the man's right boot.
