A Poem by Marlon Battad All week Marlon had been hinting at it At the greater song At the greater whole The collective The community The space Screaming with such passion that every single man Was brough to shameful tears He had seeded bits of his song "The Moth" Here and there, from tumblr To the gram, to youtube All the while waxing philosophical Hinting at the epic reveal to come And now the moment hath arrived With a click of a button, he knew what would happen: Shivering with shame, with the human condition The pathetic listeners would hear The opening piano notes, deceptively quiet: They knew this tune now, The fools! They knew what was about to happen: They were about to consume The full composition Anguished, passionate, brilliant as it was From the first modest notes, Restrained with a mad genius, To the many climaxes During which they will tremble at Marlon's power Then finally, the end... But of what?! Apocalypto: Many did not know That this word meant "A New Beginning" Those foolish Mayans! Perhaps we, too, are like they! Perhaps they, too, are The Moth...
