So I was re-reading human tokens (which is still incredible by the way) and I was just wondering what would have happened if 13 hadn’t rescued them. Would effie have stood a chance at winning? And did you ever consider letting the games fully play out as an ending?
Human Tokens was so long ago I don’t think I was that cruel then that I would have imagine an actual ending where everyone died (then I leveled up to into that good night XD). But if 13 hadn’t showed up... My guess is either Katniss or Jo would have been left standing eventually and since the Gamemakers really didn’t want Kat alive, that meant Jo would have been the most likely winner. Assuming Brutus ended up dead. Effie might have survived the spear wound but with Haymitch soon to be dead from blood poisoning and Katniss completely unresponsive... She didn’t want to win, not if that meant losing everyone, she said that repeatedly. So yeah... Either Jo or Brutus, I guess. My bets are on Jo though ;) But it’s also true the Gamemaker would have found her to be the best possible winner since she’s not only Capitol (and the capitol always win) but would also be more likely to dance to their tune so, really... It’s all up in the air.
This is no answer at all lmao. Ok here’s my final thought: if the Gamemaker manage to influence the ending, effie would probably have won. If it’s all left to skill and instinct, it would be Jo.
